music for the masses!
Oh the weather outside is frightful fucking ridiculous. With a heigh ho, the wind and the rain, etc. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE CHRISTMAS WEATHER. Humph.
Anyway, to combat the totally unseasonal weather, I am posting a CD's worth of awesome seasonal music. There are two versions of Carol of the Bells, yes, but considering that I currently have 17 versions of this song*, it could have been a lot worse. I think it's got a good balance of religious & secular stuff, and it's all lovely; this is the pick of my rather epic collection. Oh, and the version of 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' is the one off the Love Actually soundtrack -- much as I normally hate that kind of song, this one is impossible not to dance to.
1) Angels of Venice - Carol of the Bells
2) Spoken - Mary Did You Know
3) Josh Groban - Angels We Have Heard On High
4) Sarah McLachlan - The First Noel/Mary Mary
5) Jack's Mannequin - The Lights And Buzz
6) Mary Hitch & the Choir & Orchestra of Clare College Cambridge - Gabriel's Message
7) Dar Williams - The Christians and the Pagans
8) Copeland - Do You Hear What I Hear
9) The Weepies - All That I Want
10) Sufjan Stevens - I Saw Three Ships
11) Sarah McLachlan - What Child Is This?
12) Dido - Christmas Day
13) Josh Groban & the Mormon Tabernacle Choir - O Come All Ye Faithful
14) The Bird & The Bee - Carol of the Bells
15) Whiffenpoofs - O Holy Night
16) Barenaked Ladies & Sarah McLachlan - O Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings
17) Joyeux Noël OST - I'm Dreaming Of Home
18) Olivia Olsen - All I Want For Christmas Is You
19) Handel's Messiah - Hallelujah!
~
*ETA: If anyone can give me the Barenaked Ladies version of this, I will MARRY YOU. Or any other versions you think I might not have!
