oh yes!

Author names have been revealed for Multiverse 2007, so here's the fic that I wrote in a mad rush after rashly volunteering to pinch-hit. I don't know why I find McKay so much harder to write than Sheppard, but it was like pulling bloody teeth.

The Holes in the Ground - Doctor Who/Stargate: Atlantis - Rodney McKay & the Doctor, 5156 words

"Right," and thank God, he actually shuts up and just balances the circuitboard on one knee and points his stupid sonic screwdriver at it and presses a button. Blue light buzzes out from the tip and three seconds later there's a shuddering roar from the generators and the shield soars upwards. It's the most ridiculously unscientific thing Rodney has ever seen. He kind of wants to cry.

That was a pinch-hit? And writing Rodney was hard for you? Wow. I thought you got him just right--I loved that story. Loved both Rodney and the Doctor in it.

I feel like Rodney SHOULD be easy for me because I am a scientist and not one to suffer fools gladly, but I find Sheppard SO much easier. Maybe because his thought process is slower and smoother and much less prone to jumping around hectically :D

It doesn't read at all like a story that was a struggle - it's so perfectly McKay, the ego, the joy in science, the lightning jumps from logical argument to conclusion. And it feels like such a natural crossover too - loved it.

Well, thank you :) I think that's the great thing about Multiverse, really: space fandoms are much easier to blend subtly into one another. And really, the Doctor could plausibly show up just about anywhere</i..
