I love you too damn much...
*drifting along on a delicious het-shippy high*
Neo is STILL the coolest person in the world. NO slashing of Neo with ANYONE will be tolerated, due to the absolute wonder and beauty of Neo-and-Trinity. Besides, there was NO-ONE else hot and male that you could even CONSIDER slashing Neo with, so no point. Neo is just so beautiful...*melts*...I want one of my very own to love me and be gorgeous and touching and wear floor-length coats and dark glasses. Rather disappointed by the lack of guns, though. There was PLENTY of fighting, but no guns. And guns are so very very NEO. Ah well. My Neo shall carry many guns.
Proud to say that I understood quite a few of the concepts involved though will obviously have to see it again and again and again before it fully sinks in. The scene with the multiple Agent Smiths was at once (as we have agreed) the coolest and the most ridiculous scene ever. The dance party scene was amazing, INCREDIBLY tribal and with a great atmosphere. One of my favourite shots in the whole movie is when a foot comes down in slow motion, splattered in mud and with the silver bells around one ankle, and you can hear the bells chime in front of the music. Have many many many other fave shots but can't describe them all here. To explain the large amounts of non-Caucasion people in Zion, may I draw your attention to this:
If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely
100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it
would look something like the following:
There would be:
- 57 Asians
- 21 Europeans
- 14 from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south
- 8 Africans
- 52 would be female
- 48 would be male
- 70 would be non-white
- 30 would be white
- 70 would be non-Christian
- 30 would be Christian
- 89 would be heterosexual
- 11 would be homosexual
- 6 people would possess 59% of the entire world's wealth and all 6
would be from the United States.
- 80 would live in substandard housing
- 70 would be unable to read
- 50 would suffer from malnutrition
- 1 would be near death; 1 would be near birth
- 1 (yes, only 1) would have a college education
- 1 would own a computer
7 out of 10 people in this world AREN'T white, and the Matrix covers the whole earth. Well done to the movie for getting that right.
Morpheus...wearing vest...spouting philosobabble... *giggles* Oh dear. That was incredibly funny. I have to admit that I ENJOYED the first one better, though that's not saying that is IS better. They can't really be compared, because they're completely different. The first one was mystery, Gothic, dark, completely technological, and mindshatteringly original. Reloaded was building on that to create something much more earthy, tribal, and human as well as still having the cool outfits, fighting and characters of the first PLUS the most amazing car chase EVER. It didn't matter that we knew what the Matrix was, because that wasn't the premise of the movie. It wasn't TRYING to be a more advanced form of the first one. It was something very different.
*yawns* Enough ranting from me. Going to go add "spouting philosobabble" to my LJ interets as it amuses me highly and then to watch some X!
