la la update bye

I have returned! And have been attempting to work through my inboxes and scroll through my flist (- a lost cause. I gave up. if you've posted fic or anything you want me to see in the last four days, link me!). But you lot appear to have killed the Internet AT LEAST TWICE with the sheer volume of your activities, so I keep taking breaks to write this update and hope that the connection returns soon.

The coast was wonderfully warm and sunny compared to Canberra (which is currently grey, windy and something like two degrees) and it was nice to do some walking and get some peace and quiet for a few days.

Books

- I finished The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon, which I loved enormously and would recommend to absolutely anybody. It's about World War II and why comic books are important and it's an amazing, amazing novel. It won the Pulitzer Prize and everything!
- I started History of Western Philosophy by Bertrand Russell, which I got for Christmas and have been meaning to read for a very long time. I can't read too much in one sitting and I haven't even made it to Plato yet, but I'm having a wonderful time.
- I bought A Change of Climate by Hilary Mantel secondhand. Will add to the mile-high pile.

TV

- Watched those episodes of Life on Mars S1 that I hadn't already seen. Love for John Simm has been multiplied by a factor of at least ten.
- Have now seen Heroes up to 1x12, and will be acquiring the rest ASAP.
- I also started (finally, finally!) watching Supernatural, and will be continuing with it during, um, daylight hours. (I am an enormous wimp. Be quiet.) It's good fun. I expect I will start looking up fic by you lot soon.

Writing

Nothing got finished, but my Lucy Saxon fic has become a two-parter - half backstory, half fleshing out of the events of the finale. And I got quite a bit done on my Good Omens prequel thing, which I think I am just determined to finish because it's too long to give up on. I am fond of bits of it. (Holly, you will have to prod it into shape for me.)

Music

IF ANYONE AT ALL HAS THE BRAND SPANKING NEW CROWDED HOUSE ALBUM, I WILL TRADE FOR IT. MAYBE A KIDNEY. MORE LIKELY SOME OTHER MUSIC OF YOUR CHOOSING.

*neeeeeds*

I am sure I have stuff to talk about, but I am leaving soon for the rink - Aussie Skate testing tonight, and then tomorrow I am trial judging the ISA section of the ACT Figure Skating Championships, and then on Saturday I am judging the Aussie Skate section. Time to start stockpiling gloves and scarves - I don't even want to THINK about how cold the rink is going to be.

I literally jumped out of my seat with excitement re: Supernatural. I AM SO LAME. Also, ditto on having to watch it during daylight hours. Humming along to the soundtrack of awesome also helps. :D

Yay, Good Omens fic!

I can't explain it too much . . . it will be a spoiler.
