m'aidez, s'il vous plait!

Seized by a sudden and strange desire to see if the Torchwood fandom has produced any fic worth reading since I abandoned it many months ago (short answer: not really, no), I started wading my way manfully though the [livejournal.com profile] torch_wood fic tag. Both Ji & I find Jack/Ianto to be an intensely boring pairing, thus disqualifying 90% of the fic, but we discovered that you can make almost any Jack/Ianto fic ten times more interesting if you work on the assumption that Ianto is the Master in human form.

(*polite nod in the direction of [livejournal.com profile] ariastar and her comment about stopwatches that could hold the essense of a Time Lord*)

Though if anyone does know where one can find the Torchwood fic of decent quality (I don't suppose there's an elitist cabal hiding anywhere and churning out drabbles? no?) then please share that information. I miss my incompetent bisexual snarkers.

PSA: tomorrow I am off to the coast for a few days with my mother and sister. I will be taking S1 of both Life on Mars and Heroes, and am hoping to get a lot of writing done. To that end, I need fake-canon facts about one Lucy Saxon to use in my crazyepic backstory. Toss 'em at me!

Final Random Fact: one of the things I hate watching more than anything else is someone losing a large sum of money at a casino. I just...I can't stand it. It's worse than the most immature humiliation squick. I have such an awful gut-wrenching aversion to the idea of gambling with important sums of money.

Yeah, Empire Records, I'm looking at YOU. But I still love you. Lots.

I guess this icon's not appropriate then? ;-p

Torchwood is not really my thing, but you might like Last round before closing (http://supacat.livejournal.com/95591.html), if you haven't read it before.

Me too. :) It's one of my favourites.

HEE! As soon as you said it I just mentally facepalmed and went NO LUCAS!!! Every time I watch that film I secretly root for him to just TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN!

It would make for a shorter film, sure, but still.

HE DOUBLES THE MONEY. AND THEN. AND THEN...!

*head in hands*

My love for Anthony LaPaglia in that film is pretty much boundless.

I have only questions! For example, what is the UK equivalent of Radcliffe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radcliffe_College)? Has Lucy been married before? Has she ever had, you know, a job? More than that -- a profession? Favorite vacation spot? Has she been there with Saxon? etc, etc. Does she like ice cream?

P.S. M'aidez is indicative, not imperative . . . n'est-ce pas?

*weeps* At this stage I wouldn't recognise a verb tense if it hit me in the face. I had vague memories of -ez being imperative and went with that.

[identity profile] schiarire.livejournal.com 2007-07-02 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
You are not wrong about that (although -ez is also just how, um, "vous" forms always end) but the imperative changes the word order. It should be "aidez-moi."

...It was a blonde British Lucy on a ship called the Valiant. Wearing red.

Of course I made up backstory. *wry*

1) Lucy's father was the dearest person to her. He also had a terminal case of lung cancer. Her father wanted her to help him die instead of having to be in pain and unable to care for himself. She couldn't do it. "Saxon" could.

Her father died smiling.

That was when Lucy fell in love with Saxon.

2) Lucy would still not have stayed with him if he had not shown her the end of everything.

Lucy loved life. There was something about seeing it all end, with no hope, that broke a part of her inside.

That was the day Lucy stopped believing there could be a God.

But there was still a Master. And she loved him.

3) "Did you really think I could ever tell her to kill?"

Of course the Master thought the Doctor could tell Martha that.

It's exactly what he told Lucy, after all.

4) Lucy was a doctor.

The irony is fabulous.

She stopped using the prefix of Dr, though, when she married Saxon.

She liked being Mrs.

5) Lucy's hands didn't shake when she shot Saxon.

She cried later that night.

If you asked her why, she would say she didn't know.

She'd be telling the truth.

6) Lucy had a cross necklace.

She stopped wearing it because Saxon told her to.

It's buried with her father.

7) She loves to dance. When she was a little girl she would twirl around and around and around when her father or mother played the radio or their albums.

On their first date, Saxon took her dancing. They laughed to Twist and Shout, and he kissed her hard when it ended.

It hurt.

She liked it anyway.

OH AS IF I CAN USE THAT. That is a fic in and of itself!

[identity profile] fire-and-a-rose.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a fic! It's not! Just. Um. Very-detail-oriented thoughts!

Yes.

Totally.

That.

During the year that didn't happen, Lucy got a visit from a certain vengeance demon after the Master really started sucking. She totally did. Shut up. The straw that broke the back of the Lucy-shaped camel? Being told to play the Six to the Master's Baltar The red dress.

They fought for a long time about whether or not she really wanted vengeance, and then Lucy finally raised her head and said, very coldly, "I think that I'm quite capable of taking care of myself. And I wish -- "

And Anya is all like, "*LEANS FORWARD HUNGRILY*."

"I wish you'd go away and never return."

And Anya is all outraged and goes *poof*.

*nods, sagely*

I've yet to try any Torchwood fic, because I've not watched it (on the agenda for this summer), but I've been told that Rivier's stories (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=rivier&keyword=TW+fic&filter=all) are good.

Lucy Saxon felt that Princess Diana deserved what she got. Lucy regarded the hysteria surrounding Diana's death as insane.

Lucy Saxon likes to eat beef just barely cooked, still bloody and red.

Lucy Saxon doesn't wear knickers under her clothes.

Is that enough facts?

Ooh, I do like those facts. Thank you.
