wtf, mate

What Ashie said. There are no zombies in Australia. Clearly I was they were thwarted by timezones, and the whole girt-by-sea aspect. All unaffected Americans on my flist are most welcome to come and stay with me, if you can get out safely (and learn to fly a plane, but whatever, Bruce Willis does it all the time, right?). Though be warned: anyone showing the least amount of shuffling-and-moaning behaviour will be shot on sight. Uh. With the guns that we don't have. SOMEONE BRING GUNS.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] _leareth has the latest update regarding the refugee situation.

What we do have in Australia, or at least in Canberra, is an 8-degree day with winds sweeping down from the Snowy Mountains to pile wind chill on top of that. And beautifully heated buses/shops/exam rooms, certainly, but after I'd gone from OMG FREEZING to OMG WARM five or so times in the space of an hour, the blood vessels in my head just kind of gave up and are now staging a (very painful) protest.

Owwwwwww.

*takes Panadol*

If anyone needs me, I'll be in bed.

Abnormal psych exam went fine - I finished with 20 minutes to spare, having wandered my way dodgily through the short answer questions (half a page on triggers for specific phobia? seriously? HOW?) and then kicked some serious ass with my essay on the aetiology, features and treatment of Major Depressive Disorder.

Finally: I think I am developing a serious crush on the HCL fandom. The amount of intelligent analysis that these people put into their feedback is awesome. Nothing like a thoughtful five-paragraph reaction to make one want to write more fic for a fandom.

HEE. It IS sort of ridiculous, isn't it?

And I am not kidding--I am a bit put out with the universe that it saw fit to put us on OPPOSITE HEMISPHERES, but I am determined to rectify that mistake, even if only for a limited time!

We're on so much of a common wavelength the rest of the time, you'd think we'd be able to agree on this :D

I am dying to return to America one day, but the Aussie and US university holidays have such little overlap. The best time for ME to travel is January, but everyone's all...busy. Plus, I have a teensy tiny income (dang and blast that inconvenient student lifestyle!) and all of my savings will become my living fund for the next four years, if all goes according to plan. SIGH. I'll keep an eye out for opportunities.

Randomly, I am not going to be able to watch dS now without really wishing CKR would get rid of that Chicago accent *winces*.

Unless it was Jan 01-Jan 10!

HEE. You'd think! And yet. You are very smart, but you are wrong about this. *nods*

And yeah, the logistics of this whole different-hemisphere thing are tough. I'd love to get to Australia, too, and my funds are slightly less limited, but my vacation time is more so. Sigh. But I will keep an eye out, too! This will happen somehow!

And awwww. Poor Kowalski. *pets him* You know, I don't even really notice the accent now? But then, his dorktasticness is one of my favorite things about him, and the accent only adds to that, so. :) (You should check out Twitch City when you have some time--it is COMPLETELY cracked out, but it is hilarious, and CKR is hysterically awesome in it.)
