ryokophoenix. It's funny because if it was at ALL within our power, AUSTRALIA WOULD DO THAT. We would! (We always seem friendly!)
I am also EXCEEDINGLY MIFFED at SG:A 3x04 (Sateda) because it just took an entire conversation that I had jotted down for a fic and put it in John's mouth. I mean. It's nice that my writing is canonically supported, but now I can't use the damn thing.
Speaking of SG:A, I seriously have enough snippets to form decent bases for at least five fics, all floating around in the one document. One day I'll pay them some proper attention, but I've just completed my Remix fic and I don't want to do any more writing for a while. (Uhh, this is a lie. I really do want to. But I am also acutely aware of how stupid an idea this would be, academically speaking.)

“Your theories can’t explain everything,” the thing snapped. “Deal with it, Dr. McKay. You’re not always as smart as you think you are.”
There was a long pause in which John half-expected Rodney to take an affronted swing at the tentacles, but –
“What?” Rodney said finally. “Are you kidding? That’s seriously the best you can come up with?”
“Rodney –” Elizabeth started.
Rodney made a few explosive, stop-and-start noises, and for a few ghastly moments John thought he might actually be crying, but then he worked out that it was laughter. “Oh,” Rodney gasped. “I get it. I mean, obviously –”
“McKay,” John snapped, planting a hand on the man’s shoulder.
“I’m a genius, you moronic...creature. Of course I’m always as smart as I think I am,” Rodney said. John opened his mouth to protest this vehemently, and saw Elizabeth and Teyla doing the same, but Rodney cut them off with an impatient handwave. “Okay, okay, not always, but very consistently.” The thing went a slightly more greenish shade of blue and took another step towards them, but Rodney plunged on. “I can’t believe I didn’t pick up on this sooner. Wow. Insulting my intellect? What were you going to threaten Captain America here with, hair that doesn’t stand up?”
The thing looked at John, who had just caught on. “Your father knows what you’ve been doing here and he’s not proud of you and he’s always hated you and always will,” it said, desperately.
John raised his eyebrows. “Uh huh.”
The thing’s tentacles started to flail around in a manner that John – not being altogether expert in alien body language, but certainly a whole lot more expert than he was a year ago – thought looked kind of guilty. “You are a shockingly conceited human,” it hissed at Rodney.
“Yeah, well.” Rodney raised a hand and twirled it. “Guilty as charged. But seeing as how my ego has just saved us all – again, can I just point out – from dying miserably trapped in – I’m sorry, what is it exactly that we’re in here?”
The tentacles drooped, their ends flicking out in Rodney’s direction in an expression of extreme dislike. “Empathic adapter,” the thing muttered sullenly.
