True example:

'I'm looking for this fic where John is some Fairy king and needs to find his human who balances him, that's rodney who's writing a video game in the middle of nowhere where John lives, and can turn into a wolf. He also has mind sex with Rodney alot while Rodney thinks it's a dream... Can anyone tell me where I can find this again???'

Me: OH MY GOD. WHAT? WHAT?

So yeah, my fic feels all clean and normal now, and that is not something I ever thought I would say about it.

Man, now I am all distracted from my fic, because I am so amused by this community.

Basically I will never achieve anything in this fandom because a) I'm not writing McShep, b) there is very little porn, and c) at no point do I mention anything about sex slaves, lubricants, or fertility rituals.

It's the wild enthusiasm for AUs that baffles me. Seriously. Your canon has ALIENS and A NEW PLANET EVERY WEEK and NO SHAME. Why would you want to throw all that away for anything more mundane, no matter how much sex it involves?

That kind of reminds me of the experience I had last night, where I started trying to hunt down Avril Lavigne popslash material for reference for a fic I'm a little embarrassed about writing, and discovered that FF.net had an entire section devoted to Cats fic. CATS.
