Fictional things that are pleasing me greatly at the moment:

1) The Silence of the Lambs omg. I am actually prepared to see the film, the book was that good. (I am bad, bad, bad with horror films.)

2) Grey's Anatomy. That last episode was just fantastic.

3) Deadwood, which I have started rewatching in order to prepare myself for S2. (My brother: "Wow, you weren't kidding about the swearing, were you?")

4) SG:A. I pride myself on my ability to watch light-hearted television without forming severe attachments to the characters, but, uh, that idea kind of flew out of the window with 1x11 and 1x12. John Sheppard makes me revert to the fangirl age of about twelve, and Rodney McKay panders to the part of me that is gloriously intolerent of stupidity. I am being ATTACKED ON TWO FRONTS. To my surprise, I am yet to find fault with the script, except (annoyingly) with Teyla's lines. I don't know. If she'd only be mean to someone, or be selfish once in a while.

The film is worth seeing. Really worth seeing, and I don't say that lightly, especially as I am generally critical of book adaptations when the book is excellent, and Harris's Lambs is excellent.

Read Red Dragon, if you haven't already. That's the story of Will Graham-- who caught Lecter and went on in this book to investigate another serial killer. It's not the Lecter story, save for a brief retelling of the capture and a couple of scenes with him, but it is very compelling. (The movie? Less so. The original movie adaptation was called "Manhunter" and starred William Petersen as Graham, but had some unknown as Lecter. They redid it with Ed Norton as Graham against Hopkins' Lecter and Rafe Fiennes' bad guy, but although the movie as a whole was improved I felt the Graham character-as-written-for-film suffered greatly there.)

Don't see Hannibal, which is the sequel to Lambs. The book is worth reading, but ahahaha what it does to Starling in two major areas... ow. Also, gory, which is why I say don't see the film -- or watch it with great care.

*nods* Duly noted on all accounts. I have kind of run out of money to spend on books, but Hannibal is next on the list. I may get the prequels from the library.

Yes, yes Red Dragon. It was my favourite of the books, and I still have yet to see the film but probably will because PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN. Who rocks literally everything in the world.

1x11 and 1x12'd be The Storm and The Eye? So good. So good. Sadly the misuse of Teyla really does continue, although she's allowed moments here and there that allow you to see the potential she has. Otherwise I'd be plotting to kill her, about now.

Good things about SG:A, though? It keeps getting better. And the best thing? Even in the crappy episodes, of which there are a few, there's still this fantastic bitchy, snarky relationship between Rodney and John which makes it worth watching. :D!

I found myself more able to handle Teyla the Plastic after Ronon appeared. Not sure why, maybe because she stopped being The Alien. Though she still annoys me. What with being, like, DATA, ONLY WITHOUT THE ENDEARING. Though the beating-people-up-with-sticks is fun.

I always know when someone's been watching Deadwood because suddenly every third word starts with a c and isn't used in polite company. :x

Weird how I use that word ALL THE FREAKEN TIME, but suddenly when I'm replying to someone else's journal and not even using it against someone? I'm weird. WHAT, BRAIN. WHAT.
