RIGHT. LJ. I woke up this morning, after a horrific bout of insomnia, with a heavy feeling of complete and total apathy. Towards everything. I despise apathy. I despise not being able to shake it.
Ergo: I need anti-apathy music. I need to bop around my room like a crazyperson for a while.
So far I have "Find Your Grail" from Spamalot and "I'll Make A Man Out Of You" from Mulan. (Just...don't say anything.)
I need suggestions. What do you use to chase away cobwebs and motivate yourself?

I'm sure there's more but I'm in a sad song phase myself at the moment, so it's hard to think of them.

"Lemon-Aid" and "Give up the Grudge" by Gob.
"Stadium Parking Lot" by Apollo 440
"Learn to Fly" by the Foo Fighters
"Under Pressure" by David Bowie and Queen
"Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen (Whaaaat?)
"Tentai Kansoku" by Bump of Chicken
"Rollercoaster" by Machine Gun Fellatio
"Suffer in Silence" by Apoptygma Berzerk (Trust me on this...don't judge it by it's title. It's one of the bounciest songs ever.)
"The Longest Time" and "Matter of Trust" by Billy Joel
Anime opening themes are good for that kind of thing too. I suggest X, Bubblegum Crisis and Angelic Layer's openings.
And that's all that's coming to me.

Strangely enough, I suggest the Grease soundtrack for if you ever want to do housework.

I do housework to nothing but musical soundtracks :D Generally Wicked or Boy From Oz.

I started listing the ones that were essential, but that covered just about all of them. So I won't.
But! I will point out that while most songs have people who don't like them, I've yet to find anyone who doesn't like 16 Military Wives. Ditto "Rollercoaster" - even people like myself who don't like MGF like that song.

One more question - do you have "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" by Jet?

I haven't told you about how the new Australian minister for environment and water resources looks exactly like Tritter. It's alarming.

That is a problem. Be skeptical of him! Put deadly animals into his house!

UR.
'Southern Belles in London Sing' by 'the Faint'
Actually, anything from 'Wet from Birth' or 'Danse Macabre', and I'm not sure WHY this gets me up and awake and motivated BUT THERE YOU GO. Electroclash ftw.
'Sexuality' by 'Billy Bragg'. It's so cute and happy and has silly lyrics and and *squishes it*
;x I've been trying to yousendit some of the songs, but my internet HATES me right now, so you're denied. :(

Like: "I'll Make a Man Out Of You" is the best anti-apathy music ever? *adores it*
(Anything by They Might Be Giants also usually works for me.)

Unrelated specific songs: 'Finding Out True Love Is Blind' (http://www.sendspace.com/file/0qroim) by Louis XIV always makes me happy; First Coffee' (http://www.sendspace.com/file/a800h2) by Scandalnavia is hilarious (but crass!); 'Crabbuckit' (http://www.sendspace.com/file/vxdkmw) by K-Os is good fun; 'Sweet Ones' (http://www.sendspace.com/file/8b9tkz) by Sarah Slean; 'I Don't Want To Fall In Love' by She Wants Revenge (http://www.sendspace.com/file/lhvw3y); 'Put Your Records On' by Corinne Bailey Rae always puts me in a good mood; 'Feels Like Magic' (http://www.sendspace.com/file/ppmkf2) by Vinylgroover and 'Ooh La La' (http://www.sendspace.com/file/a59s45) by Goldfrapp are excellent if you like electronica.
Also, um, while we're talking about showtunes, Hairspray's 'You Can't Stop The Beat' is really great.
That's off the top of my head. I can come up with more if you want. Let me know if you need uploads!

A lot of things by The Killers, also, including Bones (http://youtube.com/watch?v=dpG03LzdlDA), Sam's Town (http://youtube.com/watch?v=DiFqK4DFrOk), and of course Somebody Told Me (http://youtube.com/watch?v=28TJJ1FY0mE).
Fall Out Boy's This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Hp-t4_SW3Hg).
Cobra Starship: Snakes on a Plane (Bring It) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=A1wMyKQ6jUg), Church of Hot Addiction (http://youtube.com/watch?v=LYrRuP0ixJA), Send My Love To The Dancefloor, I'll See You In Hell (Hey Mister DJ) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=O0aYlegjjPI). Actually pretty much their entire CD, I played it about a dozen times when I drove from KS to NY. Um. That's probably conservative, actually.
The Academy Is...: The Phrase That Pays (http://youtube.com/watch?v=_CFaHPLnD-M). This song is actually kind of sad, in a way, but at the same time it is awesome, and vaguely optimistic, and the video results in a lot of WTF. (Several of these videos do that, actually. You may have noticed that by now.)
Gym Class Heroes: Cupid's Chokehold (http://youtube.com/watch?v=eiiU-Fky18s).
And, of course, the classic song on this list: Simon and Garfunkel's Cecilia (http://youtube.com/watch?v=rL83-ljQiMo).
Um. You could always watch Bob Ross videos? I don't know if they counter apathy, but they're very calming, anyway.
... there's also this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=uBtH2YlNiNc). Now featuring illegal strip clubs! ¬_¬

I would put in a vote for this version of Cupid's Chokehold, mostly because I like robots. *shifty face*
Also, a live performance by Rufus Wainwright (In A Graveyard and Complainte de la Butte). And Crawling Towards the Sun, by The Hush Sound, an audio file for which I don't have because it wasn't on the CD I thought it was.
:D?

More if I think of them. I am at work with no music to hand, so I can't scan my iTunes list.
--Oh! "It's The End Of The World As We Know It"? Maybe.
