BSG 3x12 - Rapture

Or I would, except now I'm all self-conscious about it. Well. Let's see. This post would probably go something like this:

* OMG SAM AND LEE. BEING ALL FIRM AND CONFIDENT ABOUT EACH OTHER AND SETTING ASIDE DIFFERENCES. Jacob from TWOP talked about last episode in terms of 'civilian time' and 'military time' and this was - apart from that one savage exchange (if she dies, I'll let you - fuck. ow.) - all in very definite military time. Good. I also found the shot of Lee, in the middle of a firefight, shouting into his ancient coiled-wire phone to be hilarious.

* OMG DEE AND KARA. Their first exhange was so perfectly characteristic - belligerent sass from Kara, snarky pragmatism from Dee. And...I LOVE that they got Kara whacked out on painkillers so that she'd ramble away about her civilian-time romantic troubles while Dee is pulling wires out with a murderous expression on her face like she really, really just wants to PUNCH HER IN THE FACE but the girl's in a lot of pain so she's refraining. Just.

...and as I type this, she slaps her. HAHAHAH. Dee is so awesome. Kara has been needing that slap in the face for a long time.

(Though it does strike me, belatedly: "He won't cheat. He's too honourable." --> OW. DEAR GOD. Not 'he won't cheat because he loves you', not 'he won't cheat because he doesn't love ME enough'. Just honour. That's twisted.)

* OMG CAPRICA. AND HEAD!SIX. YOU ARE BOTH SO COOL. Poor, poor Caprica. Gaius should have some sense knocked into him, and be given a good shave, and then they should reconcile with much sexing.

* Cavil looks like one of those elderly English gentlemen on safari. With his little hat. Aww.

* Oooooooh. Lucy Lawless pulled off what could have been an INCREDIBLY corny scene with...remarkable aplomb. And much glowing. Mmm.

* New favourite moment: Lee punching Sam's knee. PERFECT combination of civilian and military. I LOVE SAM. He was incredibly, incredibly hot this episode, and very efficient, and he deserves better than Kara with her Issues Of Doom. And Dee deserves much better than Lee with his completely transparent wish to be the one hugging Kara and his STUPID honour and...well, the look on Dee's face pretty much says: at least Kara was honest. Okay, maybe she was mildly whacked at the time, but she was honest. Lee's hug is desperate and genuine but it's not honest, because more than anything else it's thank you.

Ugh. Pilots are such idiots. That LOOK, at the end. So brief, and resigned, and...THEY ARE SUCH IDIOTS. Grrrrr.

(Tigh: All right, stop it with the frakking marital reunions and let's see some ORDER.)

* O.M.G. HELO. LOOKING AT THE PICTURE. BECAUSE HE SAW KARA'S PAINTING? OMG. YOU HAD BETTER BE GOING SOMEWHERE WITH THIS, RON MOORE.

...YESSSSSSSSS VALIDATION. (KARA & HELO = STILL THE PLATONIC OTP.) Well, if we were in any doubt that Kara has a Speshul Destiny... Let's hope this will take her mind off her romantic idiocy for a while.

* Hahah. Messianic conviction. There should be more scenes with Cavil. It's sad that D'Xena is toast (heh. toast.) but I suppose they couldn't logically keep her around now that she could tell us who the Final Five are.

(Placing bets now on the Final Five - 3:1 on the Hybrid? Anyone?)

Well! The Cylons in this episode were pathetic (except Caprica. oh Caprica. BREAK MY HEART.), but I felt as though the humans were themselves - all flawed, but all strong, and all in the midst of a very real war. It's not Days Of Our Battlestar any more - well, it is, but at least they've got the common decency to make sure we get our quota of the important stuff like the shooting of guns.

Relatedly: lots of shit blew up, which, AWESOME.

*geeks around*

ETA: Because I put this in a comment and then realised that it was incredibly true: I think it should be The Anders & Leoben & Roslin Show for a few weeks while Kara and Lee get over themselves, because those are the only characters I'm feeling kindly disposed towards right now. That would be an awesome show. Just imagine.

This episode was less awesome than I hoped it would be, but ldkfjglkdsfjg abouttopukewithpain!Kara goes up as one of my all-time favourite piloty moments. AND DEE. I love when Dee gets to be a superbitch. *lessthanthree*

But god. I am so happy D'Xena and the threes are boxed. I am as curious as anyone about the Final Five, but RAH. I am so just... over the long, whisperymurmury, glowily-lit Mystic D'Xena-Gaius Scenes. Because, yes, they're pretty, but they're SLOW, and REPETITIVE, and I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING.

And for once, I was actually TOTALLY FEELING Sharon/Helo in a fanflaily kind of way, instead of just being vaguely like 'enh, they're cute'. I think it is the addition of BABY, because the last time I was like OTP4EVAR w/r/t them was when Hera was born.

And for real? The picture/art thing? My first reaction was: LKASJDA FAHYE AND CLAIRZA ARE PSYCHIC. We shall see.

It was weird. There were some really solid scenes, but a total lack of any kind of tension whatsoever. The escape from the nova took about three seconds. Danger? Whatever.

DEEEEEEE. DIVORCE HIS SORRY ASS.

I really LIKED D'Xena when she was pulling off the constant downloading and...well, frankly, when she was with anyone but Gaius. Hopefully now that Caprica and Hera are both on the Galactica there will be less jumping to and fro.

I wasn't feeling Sharon/Helo much at all, largely because I only feel it when they are not angsting angstily. I loved them in 'Unfinished Business'. Though props to the writers for the fact that I didn't see his shooting her coming AT ALL.

Whoever first noticed the art thing should be given some kind of fandom medal. Srsly.
