I think the only good thing about deciding at 9pm that one has a burning need to make stir-custard to put on one's baked apple is that when one is consuming it, after stirring it for AN HOUR, one has a tremendous sense of accomplishment. Or possibly just determination to justify the effort through CONCENTRATED ENJOYMENT.

Man, that was some good custard.

Mm-mm.

(Actually it still wasn't thick enough but FUCK IT, I made TRULY AWESOME Thai chicken...something invented...earlier this evening and it was delicious and, really, this must be why normal people just BUY CUSTARD.)

I'd do the creation meme but I'm not commenting on anyone else's because I have been stunned into a vanilla-flavoured stupor in which all I can do is mumble about American political stuff and fail completely at deciding whether I'd rather sleep with Josh or Sam. You'd think after two and a half seasons I'd have worked this one out. Usually I'm quite good at this kind of decision.

Yeah, I'm going through one of those sullen 'but I'd be a good girlfriend!' stages, which you can tell are caused by hormones because really, I'd be kind of shite. Valentines Day cards have appeared at work and I feel like setting fire to all of them save the tasteful ones, ie. three or four. TO MY WIFEY. PICTURES OF TEDDY BEARS. kjdhsAJSSFBSD. Someone save me from the concept of cute. And the colour pink. Anyway, I spent today wavering between glaring at couples (except the lesbian couple, who I felt deserved encouragement) and indulging in long daydreams about meeting someone who actually acts interested in me and not scaring them off by being a prickly bitch.

Okay, I've decided that Josh wins for this evening because of his speech about not knowing what to do in relationships because HE WAS TOO BUSY STUDYING IN COLLEGE TO LEARN ABOUT THAT KIND OF THING. Word. And Mary Louise Parker kissed him anyway because she's awesome. Josh/Amy/me OT3.

Dear god, where the hell was this post going, anyway? ... Creation meme, right. Comment here if you want to see me do anything - drabbles for your illogical guilty pleasure pairing, DVD commentary for any of my fics, whatever. I have a free morning tomorrow.

True story:

Setting: WW set in DC where they were filming with Brad and MLP
Players: BW, me, a handful of other fans

BW stands with his arms around me (and my face right in his (Josh's) LOVELY WOOL COAT.

Me: ...so, is MLP's character going to die?

BW: ...no? Why do you say that?

Me: Well, in everything I've seen her in, she dies. Usually in some horrible way.

BW: . . .

Me: Well, there's Boys on the Side, and Fried Green Tomatoes and...

Random Person: Wait! I think I saw her in some other movie... no. she died in that, too.

BW: *dies laughing*

I hate you a lot. Mostly for being, you know, American, and living in the same country as these people. Let alone the city in which they film. Let alone meeting them.

(MLP doesn't die in Angels in America!)

And would like to state for the record, belatedly, that I am capable of shipping Josh with pretty much anyone given the slightest encouragement. I am mostly behind Donna and Sam, but think Josh/Joey is awesome and Josh/Amy is awesome and JOSH SHOULD BE LOVED, PERIOD. Although I am curious as to what happened to Sam/Mallory, because Sam's she-kicked-my-puppy look every time she showed up was one of the highlights of the show for a while.

[identity profile] darthrami.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, Josh should totally be loved. I just tend to think that it should be by Joey or Sam.

I love Donna, just not with Josh.

I do not love Amy. At all. One little bit. >.<

Heeeeee. Yeah, the Sam/Mallory stuff just kinda fell by the wayside, which is sad, b/c it was fun, and also shows poor follow-through on the part of the writers. Meh.

Yeah, I've met *thinks* Allison Janney, Dule Hill, Richard Schiff, Rob Lowe, Brad Whitford, Martin Sheen and John Spencer. A couple of them a few times. But shortly after the above story, they stopped filming in DC, and that's sad. I got to be an extra, though! In, uh. Actually, the season the Amy stuff first shows up. 3? 4? I have a shit memory. The thanksgiving episode. "Indian in the Lobby," I think it's called. Not that you can see my face or anything, but -I- know it's me. :D

Yeah, okay, so that totally did nothing to lessen my hatred. At all.

Any creation-requests? I am waiting on a download, and kind of kicking my heels.

Ommmmm. Not that I can think of. WW-fic! Gen? Or Josh/Joey. *nods*

Mumblemumble but I don't know anything about politics! At all! I am petrified of writing anything that isn't ridiculous drunken antics because I will sound unintelligent.

...all right, how does ridiculous drunken antics sound?

[identity profile] darthrami.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
that sounds fine! But the thing with WW, is you don't HAVE to know about Politics to write or enjoy it, that just makes it BETTER. It's like the icing on a tasty cupcake.

Yeah, but you know me. I'm one of those people who HAS to have a PERFECTLY ICED CUPCAKE, no matter what type of cupcake I'm making.

...and wow, that was not nearly as good an extension of the culinary metaphor as I thought it was. It's 1:30am. I'm going to watch my Office episode and go to bed.

[identity profile] darthrami.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It totally was. XD

Enjoy.

Oh, and it's just because I was sort of forceful. Well, not forceful. But. I had an "in." So to speak.

Er, no clue how you were making your custard but it usually takes 20 mins including the eating... :)

I think the heat wasn't high enough. But we don't HAVE any double saucepans so I was improvising with a pyrex bowl.
ext_4917: (cooking)

[identity profile] hobbitblue.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Double...? I think you need a diffferent recipe. When I make proper custard I separate the egg yolks, beat in the sugar, then heat the double cream in an ordinary saucepan, pour it onto the egg mix in the bowl, stir rapidly with a whisk then pour the lot back into the saucepan and continue to heat on a medium heat stirring constantly for about 5 mins till it thickens, and that's it. Yummy.

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
My recipe looked SO SIMPLE AND NICE and was pretty much the same as yours (no separation of eggs, milk instead of cream) but it was insistent about not cooking it over direct heat.

...I may ignore that part next time :D
ext_4917: (Default)

[identity profile] hobbitblue.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, I suspect the no direct heat thing is because you've got the egg whites in there - here's the recipe from Delia Smith that I use (http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/traditional-english-custard,771,RC.html), I don't bother with the vanilla and it works just as well with milk instead of cream, or a cream/milk mix is good also.

Sure, tease with the chicken recipe (HINT: SHARE THE DARN THING!) :->

Finally, someone to share my Josh/Amy OTP! Josh clicks with everyone, though, and I mean everyone. BW is just one of those great great actors who has chemistry with everything and anything. Did you get to a particular scene with Josh/Amy and a pot of simmering sauce yet?
ext_21673: ([other] are you watching closely?)

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2007-01-19 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
So far Josh and Amy haven't even had a proper date yet. PATIENCE.

Uuuuh there is no recipe. I made it up. I needed a way to use up my cold chicken and remembered something I saw in a cookbook at work, although I could only remember about three of the ingredients so I improvised the rest.

- cold chicken, shredded
- spring onion, chopped up small
- fresh coriander, ditto
(- I didn't have anything else, but capsicum/zucchini/carrot would also do well in this dish, in my opinion, if chopped very finely)

Stick everything inna bowl. Pour over dashes of (to taste):

- sesame oil
- lime juice
- sweet chilli sauce
- kecap manis (Indonesian soy sauce)

Stir together, spoon into iceberg lettuce leaf cups, eat. It's kind of generic-Thai meets san choy bau. I don't know. It tasted really good.

I would ask for commentary on the BDC, but then you'd kill me dead. *grins* So... commentary on something FF-related. I like your commentaries.

And mmmmm. That Thai thing sounds quite tasty.

Also, I marvel at your custard initiative. (Me, I don't actually like custard much. But if I did, I think I would be lazy except for days of special culinary exertion.)
