YULETIDE
Assignments are out! Now all I have to do is suppress the rabid bunnies that are already staging a coup against all the stuff I have learnt for my exams.
(NO, BUNNIES. NO! I NEED THAT INFORMATION. GIVE IT BACK.)
And here's my mini-manifesto:
You'll notice I didn't give any particular guidelines other than character choice, because I like surprises and I believe in letting people work with pretty much whatever they can come up with. I'll be happy with het, or slash, or gen. Whatever!
I doubt you got more than one match, but here's some slightly more specific information for each one.
DWJ - Howl series
Pre-Howl's Moving Castle. During. After. AU. I DON'T CARE, I just love Howl and Sophie and their ridiculous snarking love.
Mirrormask
There's so much to play with in that canon that I don't want to start being too specific, but if you're really looking for direction: I'm always a total sucker for unValentine/Helena that's set after the film.
The Tempest
Do not feel by ANY means obliged to write this in iambic pentameter or script-form or Elizabethan language (unless you want to, in which case...you are a braver person than I) - it's the suggestions of magic and the throwaway backstory and the character dynamics that I really love about this play.
Lucifer (comic)
Okay, I am a complete and utter whore for any exploration of the Christian mythos, especially that involving Carey's characters. I doubt that you could write anything in this fandom that I wouldn't like, though if you really want to bulletproof yourself: Elaine Belloc. Always.
~
More generally - I like subtlety, moral ambiguity and fucking around with continuity. I like flawed relationships that work anyway, and friendly violence, and science & medicine, and mythology.
I am not keen on rape/non-con, underage sex, bestiality...the standard fandom squicks, I guess (unless you are from HP fandom, by whose standards I expect I am IMMENSELY BORING AND EASILY SQUICKABLE). I actually don't read a whole lot of porn, on the whole, but if it's what you think the fic needs then go right ahead!

mercurial_wit, if you want to glance over that.

I have changed my mind about what I am writing, oh, about seven times so far. And I have an exam tomorrow and shouldn't be thinking about this AT ALL, while we're on the subject of doom.

You should also use the word 'cadence,' if possible, because it makes her happy.
