- I have just sent out a thousand emails in response to requests for participants for psych studies. This is me earning easy $$$ giving back to my faculty.

- There is very little that I detest more, in this moment, than university courses that waste my time. I am paying to be here. I have a lot of work to do. I should not have to spend three hours in a health psych lab doing enforced 'groupwork' which consists of being given ten minutes to do a one-minute checklist on risk behaviours for cardiovascular health and then being given answers that are actually wrong. Fuck. I am excited about this course, the content looks fascinating, but they could at least have the decency to get their damn facts right.

- I spent last night at _leareth's eating stirfry and delicious chocolate truffles OF EVIL and watching QaF S2. You fandom types all know that stage you go through with OTPs/characters when you can be reduced to incoherent flailing joy whenever they speak, or do something cool, or just exist in your general vicinity? I am like that for the whole show. It's embarrassing. I love everything about it. The script, the acting, the design and cinematography, the music, the characters, the handling of political messages, the plots, the self-referential nature, the attention to detail...

(Yeah, okay. But if you lot are allowed to wax orgasmic over Avatar, I am allowed to go nuts over my sparkly gay show. FAIR IS FAIR.)

- It was not warm today, but it was not freezing. Omg. I think we may actually have passed the worst of the winter weather. You have no idea how happy this makes me.

How do you find out about the psych studies? I occasionally see fliers for them around campus but is there some easier, more central place where they advertise them?

Yes! Go into the psychology building itself, and up the stairs to the first floor. Directly across from the stairs is a short corridor (new-looking: it's part of the extension that got completed over the summer) and on the wall is a noticeboard for research participation. Billions of flyers, either with places for you to put contact details or with rip-off-able email addresses for the people running them. Most of them pay $10/hr.
