I was initially dismayed because the $199 ones I'd wanted were no longer in stock, but after a hurried consultation with the sales rep and some carefully played face-falling at the price sticker, I managed to get the last pair of $299 Sennheiser noise-blockers for $230.

And oh, yes, these headphones had better last a DAMN long time, at that price. I needed new ones, and I am paranoid about the damage high volume can do to your ears, so I figured I'd spend more and get a really good pair with the noise-cancelling properties, so that I can listen to music on the plane and not have to turn it up too loud in order to hear it over the engines.
