I am wearing one long-sleeved top and two jumpers. Two pairs of socks. One pair of fleece-lined slippers. My warmest trousers. Fingerless gloves.

Why the fuck am I still cold?

What am I supposed to do when the weather gets colder?

(So far my options are: leave the country. Move north. Unfortunately, my planned implementation of the first will only last three weeks.)

Stealing Q's portable oil heater has the net effect of heating ONE side of my body, as the living room is too large for a single heater to actually raise the room temperature by any serious amount.

You know what I need? A lair. Inside a VOLCANO. A lovely, big, warm volcano.

Ha ha I feel your pain. I'm currently wearing 2 pairs of tracky-daks and 2 track suit tops. Last night I had on a polar-fleece, a jumper and a track suit top on top, with 2 pairs of pants, twos socks, a beanie and gloves because I went star gazing (I'm a member of the Canberra Astronomical Society now) and I still got cold.... I suppose that counts as being self-inflicted though. On the up side it makes for wonderfully clear skies.

Wear tights under your pants? And invest in a blanket? Put on a long skirt over the trousars *tends to end up looking like a hippy in Antarctica after a while*

I don't even know if I OWN tights. I think I have one pair of white ones and one pair of my old navy school ones. Buried somewhere in my sock drawer!

The old school ones work well - they are fairly thick and all.

I vote hat! It's cold here too, and it doesn't matter how many layers you have on if you aren't wearing a beanie - your head/ears are one of those body places where you lose heat fast, like your armpits. I imagine you've got those covered with the layers ;-) I've been wearing a scarf inside also. I will not have a big power bill; I absolutely refuse!
