which way is up or which way down

I am in the medical school computer lab, where I expect I will remain for the next five hours or so.

I have to write a four-page summary paper on ADHD and a five-minute oral on lifestyle factors affecting fertility in Western women, research regulation of lactose intake in bacteria and start looking up statistics on schizophrenia in Australia.

Surely someone, somewhere, wants to comment-chat and distract me.

OMG HI CARRIE

I have been without pilots for almost a WEEK. It is TRAGIC. I miss my shiny, self-deluding fanvids.

[identity profile] pathstotread.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
wooooeee.

Would you like the bit of pilotfic I wrote to Plastix?

I would indeed :D

It is sadly without outmaking or anything redeeming. But, whatever.

He comes back the day Sam dies. His timing, as always, is scarily precise.

She almost laughs when she sees him skulking behind her tent in an oversized coat, obviously stolen, and a knit cap pulled down over his ears. The past year has not been kind to him, he's not been kind to himself, and it shows. He's a stranger who vaguely resembles someone she used to know, which makes it easier for her to walk past him without a hint of recognition.

"Starbuck, what--" he hisses as she brushes past him.

She stops and rolls her eyes. So it's true, promotion really does make you soft. She turns back to him and jerks her head in a follow me gesture, moving on without checking to see if he gets the message. Captain Adama wouldn't have needed that much. It's all she'll give to the Commander.

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
You know as well as I that outmaking does not necessarily a good pilotfic make! Little things. Little things.

*rereads*

It has not escaped my attention that your birthday is imminent, my dear. I owe fifty gazillion birthday fics (okay, maybe...three), but they will be written, so would you like to lodge a request?

[identity profile] pathstotread.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yay!

Write me something happy, please. I need happy pilotfic like crazy. I care not about specifics.
ext_21673: (apollo's yellow goggles own YOU)

[identity profile] fahye.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
You sure? I like specifics! They get my sluggish plotbunnies moving! And you can pile all of your personal fickinks onto me.

For the record, Imry has requested for hers: established!pilots, buddycopping and a hand kink.

I'm sure you can think of SOMETHING :D

[identity profile] pathstotread.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
so basically I have to do your work for you, hmm? WELL.

I want fic somewhere between Hand of God/Colonial Day, with Lee helping with Kara's physical therapy. (Along the lines of the "up all day with the rising sun!" deleted scene.) And...almost!kissing.

YEAH, I'M A LAZY HO.

Specifics duly noted. That sounds like great fun.

What is going on in the life of Carrie?

[identity profile] pathstotread.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
At the moment, I am making icons. In general, I am avoiding doing anything productive - cleaning my room, studying for finals, all that stuff.

*iconmatches*

Bah. Productivity. You could always, I don't know, attempt to talk about pilots in Spanish? And I can pretend I understand, and you can pretend that it counts as studying.

LOOK, LUCIFERSTOMACH.

[identity profile] unravels.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
...Oh my GOD. *flails*

You can't just-- just throw that down without warning me first! ACK.

See, now I can't think what to say. I have been utterly robbed of all conversational ability. It's kind of sad. Er.

In related news, anyway, you should finally finally have your fic soon. It is at Beta Central. And it's been so long that you've likely forgotten what it was, which is probably for the best, anyway. :]

Bonsoir, la Fahyette. I have just finished (A) reading A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man for -- I believe -- the fourth time and (B) listening to Carla Bruni in the shower. I am very much in the mood for something beautiful.

The Palace of the Legion of Honor was not half bad. I quite liked it; they do organ concerts every weekend, I think, and it was rather wonderful to pass through halls debating Early vs. High/Northern vs. Southern/Florentine vs. Venetian Renaissance art to the accompaniment of strongly resounding music. I picked up a schedule or two. They had an extremely interesting collection of books in the museum shop, including an enormous tome titled Homosexuality in Art which had a Caravaggio painting for a cover. This amused me.

Today I learned that the mascot of the Rhode Island School of Design . . .

. . .

Is a penis.

It is my Sekrit Weapon.

Um...backstory...of some sort...you're right, I've kind of forgotten. HURRAH FOR SURPRISES!

[identity profile] unravels.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, something like that. *sneaks around*

Your Sekrit Weapon is very effective. I can't say I have anything similar, really, which I now believe is a grave oversight.

I have just managed to dump half a bowl of mac & cheese into my lap, though. That could easily be quite a shock were I to employ it in Sekrit against others. *sigh*

Well, isn't it a good thing you're not going to the Rhode Island School of Design? Imagine the school jumpers you'd have to wear.

Something beautiful. I do not know that I have anything on hand, although I believe I owe you a Starbuck/Boomer ficlet from a while back. I could give that a shot.

Their hockey team is called the Nads. O, la.

It was not a request :O but if you feel like it, by all means! I am trying to ferret the good/useful litcrit out of the bad re: Portrait. (I relieved the Berkeley Public Library of most of their Joycean material yesterday. However, most of it is useless to me because I am not Ulysses-literate.)

Yes! Also good for cream pies. And I thought I was full until I saw your icon. ;)

Hmm. I have a strong suspicion that somewhere in the assignment to write 4 pages on ADHD, there's a hidden oxymoron.

So at games, the cheer goes...right. Okay. Bright idea THAT was.

I need to resort to some self-disciplining measure like twanging an elastic band around my wrist to stop myself from buying or borrowing any more books. I got a book of philosophical essays on psychology by Derrett out the other day, but I still have to finish Quicksilver and Year of Wonders and the DT books and, you know, EVERYTHING.

If I could freeze time, I would read the contents of my bookshelf.

[identity profile] schiarire.livejournal.com 2006-05-01 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Derrett?

I had a friend who tried to stop swearing by twanging an elastic band around her wrist, but the pain of it always made her swear and the experiment failed.

In the great tradition of copying you, I am thinking of compiling a brief list of things which people are unlikely to know about me, but it is difficult and I'M NOT ONLINE. REALLY. I'M WORKING. Really.

Yeah, I know. I should do half a page and say it's a creative interpretation.

I'm bored of that one now anyway (how appropriate) and need space to work out the patterns of cerebral blood flow, so I am working on my oral instead.
