"So this is true love, is it, Lee? A blissful union of your frakking souls? You'd die for her?"
She's a little too sober for this conversation and a little too drunk to be weaving back and forth the way she is. She's a second behind her own feet, all her razor reflexes failing, and he has to catch her before she falls against the hard metal corner of the table.
"Yes," he says, tightly, but he doesn't release his grip. "I would die for her."
"Oh," she says, "right," and she wants to sound bitter but she just sounds lost.
His hands dig into her shoulders so hard she has to fight to keep the wince from her face. When he speaks it doesn't sound like Lee Adama at all, because the control is slipping and it's rasping and shaky at the edges.
"I would kill for you," he says. "Do you understand?"
She swallows hard and meets his eyes and sees the rigid iron convictions there. She loves him for his principles. She might love him even more for the stomach-clenching implications of what he just said.
Yeah.
She understands.
