(For those just tuning in, my family has something of a long association with figure skating. I skated between the ages of 3 and 12, and then for about a year when I was 17, and I've done a bit of choreography for my siblings/skated in some fun competitions since. I was going to train as a judge but the sessions are on Thursdays and I keep having labs on that day :( Anyway.)

My beautiful mother remembered to tape the men's figure skating finals for me.

I LOVE YOU, EVAN LYSACEK. YOU DESERVED BETTER. YOU WERE SO GRACEFUUUUUL AND YOUR ROUTINE HAD GOOD FLOW, UNLIKE THE RUSSIAN AND HIS LAZY ARMS, AND YOUR FINAL STEP SEQUENCE WAS FUCKING AWESOME AND IT WAS TO *TOREADOR* AND YOUR LAYOUT BACK SIT WAS WONDERFUL AND YES.

Evgeny Plushenko is technically the most brilliant skater I've ever seen, yes, but his routine was pretty much one perfectly executed element after another, joined up by some sloppy and emotionless steps. He needed to take a hard look at how the Americans filled the space. Granted, his quad-triple-double combo was SO HIGH and I suppose he did deserve the gold, if only for his Godfather music and the fact that he looks like a blond David Tennant.

I could not take Stephane Lambiel at all seriously because of HIS COSTUME. WHAT WAS HE THINKING. Um. Colourful zebra stripes with random blue glitter does not a suitable costume for a Vivaldi program make. He is really, really pretty, though. Enjolras-pretty. Yes. And his spins were so so so so so good (I love the spins at this level above all other things), but I don't think he deserved the silver.

Oh my sweet GOD, Johnny Weir. I don't know what it is about the name 'Johnny', but apparently it is only bestowed upon the most beautiful men in the world. I just stared. And stared. He looked like...like Puck, or Ariel, with that costume. Too pretty and fae to be human, with his loose hair and his little perfect features. And once I got over the pretty, he did the most gorgeous variation on a sit spin I've ever seen. I would stalk him, except he's gay. I will beam at him from a distance instead.

Jeffrey Buttle's costume was my favourite. And he was all long limbs and sticky-uppy blond hair and this huge boyish smile and his edges were faaaaaantastic. Mmmm.

Er. And then I went and bought a $200 dress. WHOOPS.

I'm amazed Plushenko can actually balance on the ice - I would have thought the sheer dimensions of his nose would tip him over.

In other news, were you just watching the couples doing their freestyle stuff; the Chinese kids that scooped up silver had this absolutely amazing tumble, complete with cripplingly painful splits and splatting into the barrier. Pwhoar.

Noooo :( I have no television, and my sister taped over the pairs stuff that my mother recorded. Bah.

He is ACTUALLY built like someone from manga. It's insane. And he's pretty. And he's gay. Clearly, he is NOT REAL.

DO YOU STILL HAVE THAT ON TAPE, I WANT I WANT.

Seriously, how does everyone know when things are showing (without sitting in front of the television for six billion hours straight)? I am befuddled, and also missing all the skating which is wah.

I will swap you LOST? :D

Uh, I will ask my parents tomorrow.

I have no idea, really. I think they tape all of it and then fastforward until they get to skating.

LOST. YAY.
