I've run out of Wire in the Blood episodes. Now what do I do with myself? I WANT SEASON THREE.
*craves like nicotine candy*
I haven't raved about it lately, have I? No? ALL RIGHT THEN.
Leaving aside the fact that it's a crime show with more intelligence than any other I've seen (Britain does crime better than anyone else ever could) and every episode is carefully crafted and beautifully written - there's only a handful per season - and just thrilling enough to make your heart stop at the right places but not scary in a bad way, and the fact that it's about forensic psychology and Robson Green does a pitch-perfect portrayal of someone just unbalanced enough in himself to unravel the criminal mind...
It's got one of the best-written and most sympathetically explored relationships I have ever encountered in a fictional medium. Nothing happens, there are no angsty on-again-off-again plot arcs, but it's there and it's obvious and silently, heartbreakingly perfect. Not because they're perfect people, because they're not - they're fascinating, flawed, human people - and not because they'd be deliriously happy if anything did happen and they were Together Forever. The obstacles make as much sense as everything else. There's a quiet, mature form of UST and everything they do, every time they rely on each other a little more and have to hold themselves apart and every subtle parallel and held gaze and GUH. Nothing will happen. Resolution cannot form. But if you accept that then you can see them for what they are and what they have, and it's love. And it's amazing. Synchronicity, the final episode of the third season (which I would sell a kidney to own, dammit) is pretty much the best piece of television I've ever seen.
OTP. Absolutely.
All right, you can return to your lives now. But if this show ever crosses your path, WATCH IT AND LEARN.
