butter-menthols are my best friend
I am horribly sick. This may make no sense. Consider yourself warned.
(No, seriously, my throat has been getting worse all day and my ears ache and now I think I have a fever. My immune system has been holding out valiantly for months, but it has finally fallen. Luckily the only thing I have tomorrow is work at 1pm, so I can stay up late to RP with the Ji (newly restored to me, calloo callay!) and then sleep forever and ever and ever.)
I just had a truly surreal phone conversation in which I was hired for tutoring (dear God, I have SIX JOBS, how is this even POSSIBLE?) by a nice woman who knows even less maths than her twelve year old son and is trying to teach herself out of a book so she can help him. My 'interview' consisted of me patiently explaining to her how to add and subtract mixed fractions. Er. And telling her that yes, I just finished high school, and yes, I did two years of double advanced maths and was top of my year. Er.
However, more money! Which I seem to be spending at an alarming rate, and I want to snap up Song for Susannah and The Dark Tower from the secondhand bookshop before anybody else does, no matter that I haven't got all the ones in between. $50 for both of the massive hardbacks in good condition is damn good value.
Bush Week Scavenger Hunt wrapped up today, which meant that
ryokophoenix and I spent a good hour sitting in the sun eating free cookies and jelly and watching people do bizarre things like deep throat carrots, give each other mohawks with blunt scissors and eat brains/dog food/minced garlic/butter. There may or may not be a Marauders fic forthcoming from this experience.
OW OW OW MY EARS ARE BLOODY SORE.
NOT HAPPY, JAN.
...oh, and now the lady rings back to say that oops, the kid's father doesn't want her making any commitment to a tutor at this stage, and someone else just explained the whole fraction thing to her and isn't it easier to add the whole numbers first and THEN the fractions?
WHAT.
I'M TOO SICK FOR THIS SHIT.
