Phantom!

So, today I spent a lot of money on a sexy new handbag, a sexy new wallet, some sexy new eyeshadow and the sexy Angels in America DVDs.

And then I went and saw The Phantom of the Opera

Adored:

* Meg!
* The way Raoul had to wear a flimsy little pirate shirt whilst swordfighting in the middle of winter <3
* THE SETS OMG THE SETS
* Every single piece of clothing worn by everyone ever
* The beginning, with the chandelier melting away the dust
* Masquerade! *dies*
* Christine's voice. Christine's hair. Christine. Yup.
* The song in the graveyard - 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again'.
* Minnie Driver in general. Guess who is now playing [livejournal.com profile] la_carlotta_ at the crackbar? *headdesk*

ETA: * The brief but adorable spectacle of Meg dressed as female!Enjolras

Conclusion? Musicals are the best thing in the world.

[livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme's Wicked recs are not helping this situation at all.

* Eeee! Megwassocool!
* Raoul was pretty and dim and guess who is now playing [livejournal.com profile] raouldechagny at the crackbar? *headdesks*
* OMG YES THE SETS *SQUEALS*
* Soooooo much pretty clothing. And highpants!
* Oh yes, so very very pretty and squee-inducing.
* *likewise dies, especially at Phantom's reprise*
* Yupyup.
* Soooooooooo pretty. Wanted to lick. Also wanted to cover up Christine's breasts, because frostbite in the breasts must suck.

I was more unimpressed at Erik's 'past', and how he was brought into the opera THAT HE HELPED BUILD READ THE BOOK YOU STUPID STUPID PEOPLE *stabs writers to death*

also, anyone notice the similarities between the phantom and bela lugosi's dracula? i kept wanting to yell 'bela lugosi's dead! (undead undead undead undead)' though that could have to do with my being a geek. XD

(christine was so hawt. fwee)

Saw it with my mother on Monday and loved it, especially Meg. I was inwardly squealing "Meg! Meg! Bounce! Tutu!" all the time she was on.

The Phantom himself wasn't quite repulsive enough to explain why he'd expect people to react that adversely to him; it would not be all that hard to love him, mask and all...

*traditionally roots for the bad guy*
