Good God. My oral topic has been narrowed down to 'fandom language', simply because I started there and got hit by an overload of information. And then I found www.netlingo.com and gave up entirely on ever covering Netspeak in any degree of depth whatsoever. So. I shall regale the class for ten minutes on the origins of the terms "Mary Sue" and "lemon" (and avoid mentioning what cherry, grapefruit and vanilla mean) and extemporise on such delightful terms as jossed, which is:

"To have something, such as a piece of fanfiction you've written, or a belief about a character you've cherished, blown out of the water by developments in canon. This happens frequently in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and in Angel: the Series, both of which were created by Joss Whedon, hence the origin of the term."

Also, "Match-Stick City" is an anime fandom term for Tokyo, because it gets destroyed so much ^^

So, yeah. sanguia, izumihydra, tammaiya and schmendrannie, all of whom have the dubious distinction of being in my English class, may wish to hide under tables when I talk about slash. I won't be mentioning any names, promise!

Went shopping this afternoon and managed to pick up two Matchbox 20 albums for $30, which was nice. Attempted maths homework and became utterly confused. Am now sitting around, not getting particularly excited about the swimming carnival, and wondering just how Chidder and Ponder grew to hate each other so fast >.

Oh dear. Everyone is attracted to Chidder. Chidder will flirt with anyone to make Teppic jealous. Chidder will especially flirt with Ade, now, because he knows it'll piss off Ponder.

Chidder + Ponder meeting = fireworks of a spectacular nature

I dunno. In person, Ponder is much less confrontational than he is over P.C. Nothing to hide behind. It's entirely possible he'd cower anti-socially in a corner or be too shy to say very much were he to meet Chidder face to face, especialy if it were outside of The University.
