the quintessential update

Right. I have the feeling that this entry will contain a lot of LJ-cuts, because I have foolishly let a large amount of important things build up. I also have an alarming headache, so if things don't make sense... well, sorry.

Christmas acquisitions:

* X DVDs 2 and 3
* Cocoa sampler from Gloria Jean's ^^
* The Hidden Warrior, Passage (books)
* $70
* $30 voucher for the ABC shop
* Um, yeah, that's about it...
* ...wasn't that pointless

I snapped at everyone on the way home from watching this. I have been looking forward for THREE YEARS for Eowyn and Faramir, my favourite characters, to get love. And they got none. I was bloody furious. They both had hard lives, were both heroes, and then got ignored. The extended edition had BETTER be good. [/bitch] Anyway, I am simultaneously in love with Faramir and Eowyn, and Aragorn looks surprisingly much less hot with clean hair ^^ Legolas finally got a change of clothes, and the world rejoiced. Can't believe Arwen interrupted their wedding, the ho. Pippin rocked. That part where he was singing and Faramir was charging towards Osgiliath... that was the most emotional, beautiful part of the movie. Gandalf was a waste of space. Decides to forget that he's a wizard of unimaginable power, drives away the Nazgul ONCE and then refuses to do it ever again, then contents himself with waving his stick around and yelling at everyone. Humph. Deus ex machina in the form of giant eagles was quite amusing, actually.
Oh, it was a great movie, don't get me wrong. But I have a horrible horrible critical mind, which kept pointing out tiny flaws. Was accosted afterwards and asked which bits I cried at. Felt like dreadful emotionless stone saying "Um, none of them, actually." ^^;; It was moving, and emotional, and gorgeous. I think there may be something inherently wrong with me. Bah.
The dressing up and being stared at and having photos taken and getting major deja vu from anime conventions was nice, too :)
Oh oh oh. Legolas and the Oliphant was the greatest thing ever. I think Legolas does these things purely to show off. Remember the skater boy trick? And the horse trick? Attention whore, that elf is.

Well, only one LJ-cut, not too bad. Have been down the coast and come back to FOUR PAGES of friends entries, after only three days. Managed to escape being made to swim, and also managed to get nothing productive whatsoever done except for a sketchy plot outline for a Seishirou/Subaru fic. Well done me.

Speaking of fics... *feels horrible and grasping* ... if you read my Christmas fic, could you leave a comment on one or both parts saying what you liked/didn't like about it? I want to polish it up a bit, and need input. Ta.

Watched my X DVDs. Endlesslygenki!Yuzuriha is pissing me off. Love Subaru. So, so much. Am also helplessly confused by the fact that his eyes change colour between TB and X (and during the course of X, too), and Kamui's eyes are described as purple (sorry, lavender) in every fic ever despite them being very definitely brown. Arg.

Oh. Ignore eye colors in the X anime series, it's all so different than CLAMP's colored manga art... the manga art itself has Kamui with purple eyes... it confused a lot of other people as well. :/

http://tsuriai.net/X/Xfaq.htm#N07 for the generally accepted "hair/eye color as determined by CLAMP"

I thought it might have something to do with the manga, and then thought... hang on, manga's BLACK AND WHITE.
This explains that little mystery!

Purple and green are so much preferable to brown and blue-no-purple-no-grey-hang-on... They work in YnM, they may as well work in X as well.
