*ploughs through friends page*

I have such enthusiastic updaters for friends >.< Remind me not to go away for more than a day at a time.

Anyway, Sydney! Long rant ahead, so I'll stick it under a cut for those who don't really want me to spam them with joy and raving. I will say this though - I own Yami! Thank God for bootleg DVDs. Except the middle one's subtitles are stuck on Chinese and will not be changed. It would HAVE to be my favourite arc, wouldn't it... *has tried to watch King of Swords and given up in disgust* Oh well. For $40, what did I expect?

Saturday, bus trip consisting of sewing parts of Mel's cozzie and hoping the gunblades were OK. Arrival in Sydney - backpacking hostel alarmingly full of drunken English backpackers. We scared the single other occupant of our dorm by barging in, dumping things and immediately pulling pieces of costume from everywhere. Costumes were gorgeous - a list for those not fortunate enough to be there;
Me - Seifer. As a girl. With bitch boots and miniskirt and BIG HYPERION and BLOODY COAT.
Anna - Squall, also as girl (our theme being crossplay :D) and also with tiny skirt and BIG GUNBLADE.
Mel - Ichigo, complete with scary pink wig and wired-up tail.
Liz - Jing, as girl. Someone DID ask where the bird was.
Leah and Rhi - Saiyuki characters whose names I cannot remember because I've never seen it. Rhi had the scary pants that defied gravity ^^
EDIT BECAUSE I AM DEAD TIRED AND LEFT PEOPLE OFF, SHAME SHAME SHAME:
Ali and Eujar - sexacious female Alucards, with fishnets and red ribbons and gorgeous gloves and gun.

So, we ordered two taxis. One came. The other didn't, leaving five of us standing on the road in the middle of the Cooge Bay area (lots of drunken englishmen. lots) looking like strange dress-up prostitiutes with weapons for an HOUR AND A HALF, while we froze and were rained on and approached by countless drunk men and ended up being exceedingly late for the party and missing the cosplay comp. That WAS fun. Have lost all faith in Sydney taxis.

Party was great - our dance performance went well despite da bootz of doom almost breaking my ankle. Anna and I did our crazy waltz-gone-odd dance and won Best Skit *coughonlyskitcough* ...and got flamed on the forum boards because it wasn't in character. We were wearing miniskirts and the dude was complaining that the skit wasn't in CHARACTER? I think he needs a sense of humour. But everyone else pointed out that is was, actually, a JOKE, and we got support from the MC. Ha. And Mellie won Best Female for her blindingly wonderful pinkness. Not much else of note, except the dancing should have gone on for longer and played more good songs (the best being Tank and the opening of Jungle Guu, which is exhausting to dance to) and we had pictures galore taken of us.

Sunday - woken up at various times by some guy's bloody phone alarm beeping every half hour. Also much drunken singing. Went to Chinatown for lunch and did the anime stores in the city, wiht much help from Squall!Glenn, who we met at the party and who showed an amazing patience in showing us around and tolerating demands for yaoi and pocky. Kinokuniya is my new god and I now own (or will, after my birthday) almost all of the Yami manga *dances* I didn't even know it was available in Australia and there it was... very happy. Glenn even showed some of us the yaoi section :D Poor guy.

Got back to hostel clutching manga and DVDs, found two Irishmen asleep in our room and proceeded to wake them up with our babbling. Then passed around manga and found out just how hard it is to comment on hardcore untranslated yaoi when there are INNOCENT IRISH MEN in the room. "This style is...nice" "You know, the bit with the...thing" "What's happening here?" "Who cares?" Four volumes in all, which we have christened with appropriate names in leiu of actually knowing the proper ones. My personal favourites were "Pr0n^5" (pron to the fifth) and Welcome-to-the-house-of-pr0n. Didn't even bother renaming Punch Drunk Babies, because that name is a story all on its own. Pizza for tea, some time spent playing Fandub Charades involving octupus fetishes and Rei the stripper.

Today - up at some ungodly hour and trying to get changed in the dark, had the pleasant surprise of taxis actually showing up, slept through most of the bus ride. Many more amusing things happened but I'd be fighting a losing battle trying to put them all here.

Had skating today and am despairing of ever developing any kind of cardiovascular fitness. My coach had to stop and wait patiently while I puffed at the barrier. I suck >.<

First work training day tomorrow, the proceeds from which will be paying off some of my alarming debt. Take note: I do not expect Christmas presents from ANYONE because there is honestly no way I can return the favour. I shall bestow a fic upon you all as vague compensation.
