bah
Tomorrow looks to be full of bloody skating and english oral and NYSF stuff and chasing guy who has my work schedule and similar painful things and NOT meeting up with everyone to give and receive thingums, because they're all going to be animania-d out and tired and probably not being allowed to socialise any more. *pouts*
On much much happier note, went to
sanguia's today and had my boots admired and read her delightful crash-angst attack ghost/sparks and discussed pirates and vampires and decided that we really SHOULD get on with TNIAY sometime soon, seeing as how we have the whole fic planned out and just have to write the damn thing.
Have been writing pirate slash just for the hell of it <3 Muchos pointless fun. Eujar and I counted the number of Mary Sues on ff.net under PotC. Shamefully, horribly high percentage. Have a rant in the makings. Heh. Will post at a later date.
Now, my days in Italy, cut for those who really don't want travel tales spamming up their friends page:
DAY ONE
- The speed limit in Rome appears to be "as fast as you can go"
- Our apartment is opposite a shop called "B&B" ^_^ Granted, it stands for "Blanka & Berta", but cool nonetheless
- Can pronounce Italian, much to irritation of brother
- We flew over the Swiss Alps. God DAMN. Those are some serious mountains.
- Horrible horrible flights of stairs to apartment. Legs dead.
- Everyone should watch the sun set behind the dome of St Peter's at least once in their life. Believe it.
DAY TWO
- Not a whiff of a pickpocket, thank goodness. Bags quite safe.
- Visited the Pantheon, the Colosseum, lots of fountains, the Forum and the Trajan Markets
- My camera memory has helpfully run out on me in the middle of the most beautiful city in the world.
- Have now sampled gelati, pizza, panini, antipasta and lasagne
DAY THREE
- Only day out of Rome and it decides to rain. Not sure if this is good or bad.
- Tour bus means everything has to be repeated in Spanish and Italian.
- Have listened to Buffy soundtrack at least 3 times. Now have bizarre Buffy/Vampire Chronicles crossover vaguely mary-suish scenario set to that CD.
- Had whirlwing driving tour of Naples, which is huge and looks interesting
- Pompeii! Baths, houses, great tour, though apparently everything ever dug up that is actually worth seeing is in Naples museum, which we didn't visit.
- Guide was hilarious Nazi type who marched us around snapping "one minute for photos, then we go!"
- Visited Sorrento, gorgeous seaside resort place
- Got back at about 10:30 *_* dead to world
DAY THREE
- In the Vatican City, all the euro coins have the pope's head on them
- They were setting up for Mother Teresa's beautification ceremony, chairs and things all over the place
- St Peter's Basicila is totally amazing. Can't even begin to describe it.
- Then walked for ages through the Vatican Museum, with room after room just covered in beautiful paintings.
- Sistine Chapel. Also gorgeous, though very crowded.
- Lots of nuns and priests running around looking hot and bothered in their long black robes.
- Again, bloody tired
Watched movie after movie on the flight back. PotC, Matrix Reloaded, Charlie's Angels 2, Italian Job, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
On that last - I agree totally with
hikarudragon. It was crap. Sean Connery is a great actor and was given NOTHING to work with. The vampire girl was disappointingly insipid and irritating. Dorian Grey aka SEX ON LEGS was the SOLE redeeming feature of the entire movie. There is one shot - I'll find a screencap - where he looks just like Johnny Depp only younger and more snooty. Gorgeous.
Also - THAT is the character of Lestat. PROPER Lestat. Not crappy QotD Lestat. He is exactly the same person as Dorian - same sauve manner, same confidence and grace and sarcasm. And Stuart Townsend as Dorian looks exactly like my mental picture of Louis, which is confusing me *_*
Am now off to either work on english oral (unlikely) or possibly write pirate fic or possibly post another chapter of Shields.
