Today was excellent! I went shopping with Mum and came home with a black felt cloche hat and a pair of emerald green jeans, as well as some cheap nail polish, two different types of tea, a Diana Wynne Jones book previously unread by yours truly (Enchanted Glass) and a Julia Quinn romance novel which is entirely the fault of peripeteia gushing about cunnilingus. THANKS RAWLES.

And littledust told me about all the amazing Bostonian diners we will eat at during my visit.

And tomorrow my sister and I will see The Hunger Games; I expect it to exacerbate my crush on Jennifer Lawrence something fierce.

And tonight I made pistachio and lime syrup cake which involved MAKING PISTACHIO FLOUR, ie. shelling a fuckton of the little green buggers and then grinding them into dust. It's currently cooling down on the bench. I am having to fight my family off it with spoons.

IT WAS. We had it while it was still quite warm, with dollops of double cream, and it was moist and syrup-sodden and divine. (I got a new baking recipe book yesterday and that was the first cake that caught my eye. Now to work through the rest of the book!)
