some excellent things

1) YULETIDE ASSIGNMENTS ARE OUT. I am very excited about mine. And despite the hair-tugging and face-clawing that inevitably occurs near deadline, I am looking forward to this coming month of frantic scribbling in the company of everyone else who's signed up for the madness.

2) The second important email I received today was my term allocations for internship next year. After painstakingly ranking 70 different term combinations from 1-70 by preference, I am VERY PLEASED to report that I got my first preference! Which means I get to do a psych term, and also get a lot of ward experience before my nights/relief term.

3) To celebrate, I have ordered Blue Year's Eve and Snow Globe from China Glaze's seasonal collection. I have reds, and greens, and red glitter and green glitter. Clearly I need shiny blue and opal glitter! (Although if you ask my mother, I do not need to buy another nail polish ever again.)

4) I am going to make delicious pasta with zucchini, chilli and parmesan for dinner tonight.

Clearly you need to get another placement here IT IS THE ONLY EXPLANATION.

(Queensgate Terrace looks especially delightful)

My medical degree is over now, no more elective placements :( Getting part of your specialty training done overseas is very hard until you're at, say, Fellowship level. Which is at least five years away. SOB.

No doubt I will break at some point before then, and use one of my two precious two-week blocks of allocated leave per year to descend upon London and buy all the cosmetics.

HRMPH. Well that's just rude of them.

And to SEE ALL THE THINGS. <3

INDEED <3 I spent so much time at the Imperial War Museum and the Science Museum and the London Museum and the Natural History Museum and the National Portrait Gallery that I have STILL never seen the Tate Modern or the V&A.

Plus I am sure you need to drag me to at least five pubs.

Plan for the next FAHYEVASION: Pub crawl, V&A (I was in there last week it is made of fabulous still but they've closed the fashion & textile galleries until next year and they were repairing the lighting in the Mad Christian Bling gallery, hmph), the fundamental exhaustion that is the Tate Modern, BOROUGH MARKET. :D

Blargh, I should become a tour guide. Far too excited about this city for someone who lives in it.

Sounds amazing! I have promised certain Americans that they are next on my visiting agenda (& I need to rectify the fact that, city-whore though I am, I have never been to New York) but after that, LONDON ONCE MORE.
