oh the embarrassment

Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous.

Oh dear. Oh...dear. The great majority of these come from a subfolder called 'Hiatus', which is code for 'will never actually be written, not in a million years'.

Feel free to ask me about any of them!

THE NEUROSIS OF DESTINY.

Larklight thing? As in Phillip Reeve's Larklight series? *frantically deletes inappropriate levels of capslock* Please, could we know more about that?

"the diseases of autumn," "the sky," and "cartography of falling" also sound absolutely fascinating, if you're willing to explain.

To be honest, your list is enviably short. WHAT ARE THOSE HP FICS ABOUT?

HAHA UM. Honestly. That is a document containing a single quote ('The neurosis of destiny, also called repetitive compulsion, is the tendency to periodically repeat the same, usually painful, experience.') and I haven't the FOGGIEST what BSG-related thing I planned to write around it. But it's a cool idea which I will very likely use in something else, one day. As far as I remember it's a way obscure psychoanalytical concept.

I wrote some Larklight drabbles aaaaaages ago (no idea where they were posted, I think they were commentfics somewhere) and moved them into a document with the vague intention to one day expand them into a proper fic, but it never happened (and was pretty much jossed by Starcross anyway, I think).

I will cover the other three in response to some other comments, check back!

Yes! I wrote this thing (http://fahye.livejournal.com/318086.html) a long time ago and wanted to make it longer, because that book made me want to synthesise some stuff about amnesia and narratives and masochism, but I never got around to it.

It would be a lot longer if I included my original WIPS, believe me.

I had to open them and stare at them for ages before I could even remember! They are ridiculously old. Not In Our Stars was an aborted attempt at writing some baby-Marauders, because I wanted to write Sirius's transition from Pureblood snob to rebel. Only By Default was a very, very silly pre-Harry/Draco fic based on the idea that they are the only (openly) gay students at Hogwarts. Largely it was an excuse to write an extremely snarky Draco POV.

Those are two that might actually be written, one day! I have enough of 'diseases' written/planned that it will be a pity if I let it languish entirely. It's a medical school AU, and a gloriously blatant bring-your-fandom-to-work piece of catharsis. I still really love the ideas I had for it, I built up a whole system of magical medicine.

The full title of the other is 'the sky doesn't want you any more' and it's dark magical genderswap Merlin/Morgana, about male and female magic being inherently different and refusing to dwell comfortably in a genderswapped host, and -- stuff like that.

Ohh, an old one. This sprung from an idea someone had about the connections between the Milliways ethereals, and what immortality means in terms of patterns of relationships, and how it would feel to have lived for thousands and thousands of years with your only constants being this group of other beings, and what you do with that many memories. It's all kind of twisted and depressing. The most telling dot point in the document is this one -- the only way the angel-demon balance can tip is in the direction of Falls: entropy increases. I'd finish it if I could recapture the feeling that led me to want to write it in the first place; besides, I remember extracting a promise from [livejournal.com profile] schiarire that she'd illustrate it, if I did :)

So old, and yet! One of the most complete WIPs I have (4000 words already), and one that I will definitely finish and get out there one day. It's a stupidly ambitious prequel, from the creation of the universe right up to the very first line of the book ('It was a nice day.') It covers a lot of things, like how Aziraphale's sword ended up in War's hands and how the Horsemen came into existence and how Crowley was posted to Eden... it's shameless mythos-building really :) Now I am feeling all excited about it again.

Ooh, yes! I really love the little snippets of it that exist, but it's set during, like, S2 of both series. So it's reeeeeally old and non-canon-compliant. And needs a plot.

"Hey!"

"Jesus." Dean's heart tried to karate-kick its way out of his chest at the touch of a hand on his arm, and he almost burned his fingers before shaking the match out. A woman with a ponytail, an unattractive jumpsuit and a very indignant stare seemed to have appeared from nowhere.

"Were you...were you about to burn my evidence?" she demanded.

"No!" Dean lied, fisting his hand around the matchbook. "Nope. Nothing of the kind."
