foiled!
Aughghghgh. I got halfway through making pasta sauce before I realised that the tinned tomatoes I found in the cupboard were devoid of a ring-pull. I THEN made the fascinating discovery that the ancient, ancient can-opener in the flat does not work. So...I made onions and mushrooms cooked in olive oil and garlic, which is basically what I was planning to have anyway, minus the tin of tomatoes. And then I made instant noodles. Dinners With Fahye, tune in next week.
I really don't think my relatives do much cooking in this place when they use it. I am trying to be good and not succumb to the huge amount of ready-made food available in the vicinity, but the kitchen is not helping!
Luckily, my family is predictable in some ways: there was a bottle of tonic and another of gin in the cupboard. I'll, ah, need to restock those before I leave.
Today I was extremely lazy, but I did make it to Foyles and Blackwell on Charing Cross Road. Now THOSE are some sales I can get behind. Four books! For £18! That should keep me going for, um, a couple of weeks. I made the mistake (?) of including the first Hunger Games book in that four, so I might be dashing back to buy the others soon.
Currently I am watching a TV show about Britain's coastlines. I don't know. I am easily charmed by novelty when it comes to the BBC. And watching them take BOATS OUT to surf on TINY WAVES and look REALLY THRILLED is kind of hilarious from an Aussie point of view. Bless.

lizardspots! Being medical students we will obviously turn into seven-year-olds in the presence of any kind of hands-on science stuff.
