I am writing this almost exclusively to Heather Dale songs
HURRAH. After weeks (honestly, weeks) of feeling at best ambivalent and at worst destructive about my fic, I have finally moved back above the x-axis and am sailing along on the positive portion of the sine wave that my attitude towards my own work invariably becomes.
It's still going to be far too long, it's still an Arthur that people may not agree with, it's still an OT3 fic in a fandom that doesn't really go for OT3s, it's still slow and prosey and pornless and it still features unreliable (or more accurately: evasive and slightly self-deluding) narration.
But! I can reread it and smile at some of the turns of phrase, I can find a coherent thread of emotional development, and I will be proud of it when it's done.
(Plus, I've just kidnapped an OC from a completely different fanfic in a completely different fandom, and have cheerfully inserted her into this one. She's fitting in nicely.)
