why I would be a terrible author, reason #49

9pm - I have to be at rounds at 7am, so I'll need to get up at 5:30am...better be in bed by 10, which means I only really have an hour of awake-time left.

9:05 - I will spend my awake-time WRITING! :D!

9:15 - *scrolling dejectedly through document*

9:30 - UGH I DON'T WANT TO WORK ON ANY OF THESE SCENES. I HAVE EIGHT SEPARATE TYPES OF WRITER'S BLOCK.

9:45 - *removes semicolon*

9:47 - *puts semicolon back in*

9:52 - Ooh, idea!

AND THEN I AM CRANKY BECAUSE THE CHOICES ARE:

A) KEEP WRITING, COLLAPSE FROM SLEEP DEPRIVATION IN SURGERY TOMORROW
B) ABANDON WRITING JUST AS IT STARTS TO FLOW, NEVER FINISH STUPID FIC EVER

OH GOD YES I HATE THIS. ALSO there are the times when I get home at 7PM and I'm all FINALLY YES TIME TO WRITE except I'm too tired to think about words properly and it is devastating.

That is probably a large part of my problem, honestly.

But! Authors never have to wake up at 5:30 for rounds?

I am in a catch-22 situation where I can't afford to be a full-time author unless I have already successfully published things, which means I have to be a doctor first, which mean I will never have time to write something to publish. ETC.

Haha, I am a creative writing major and I have definitely had fights with semicolons as well. Last fall I was in love with semicolons and my professor had to keep telling me to take them out.

Oh, by the way, hello! I have read some of your fic over on Teaspoon and thought I'd wander over.

I go through stages where I'm convinced I'm using them wrong. And stages where colons are my special favourites.

Nice to meet you :)
