questioning the reasons

Despite some necessary comfort-spending at L'Occitane en Provence (cherry blossom scented hand cream) I can't shake the sense that I smell of surgery: sweet and bloody and iodine-sterile all at once. It's unsettling. I want this term to be over. Though I did manage to knock over a couple of mandatory tasks today (including my first ever rectal exam, JOY) and watched a liver segment resection, which was interesting enough.

Tomorrow: a fundoplication and a gastroenterostomy. And FREE LUNCH provided by the clinical school because I'm participating in a focus group providing feedback on peer assessment in our formative long case exams (I know, I know, I'm talking another language! soon I will communicate only in medical acronyms).

I washed my hair tonight + I don't have to go to rounds tomorrow = I can SLEEP IN

i am continuously jealous of the fact that you get to do things, gross or otherwise! i wish i had fun school things to write about, but "today i read THIS MANY PAGES" is not very exciting.

but free lunches/alcohol is totally the best thing about grad programs.
