Bones 5x01
God god god so much work to do today, but I'm waiting until after lunch. I had a GLORIOUS 10-hour sleep last night so I'm no longer the blurred mess of sleep deprivation that I have been for the last week.
But this post is mostly because, in breaks between lectures yesterday, I managed to watch the season opener of Bones.
OH THIS SHOW. I MISSED IT SO MUCH. I was telling Ji how it's gotten to the point where I just hear the voices of the characters and I feel joyful. I love it so much that I can forgive it getting things COMPLETELY AND HILARIOUSLY WRONG, including
a) tarot (I am going to make a whole post on this later because they got some of it interestingly right and I want to blather for a while)
but mostly
b) NEUROLOGY. Oh man. I mean, this is a topic close to my heart (ha) so it took a great effort of will to forgive Sweets for trying to pull that reductionist bullshit. Ben Goldacre would rip you to SHREDS, my dear! It's like they Googled 'love and the brain' and just grabbed 'caudate' and 'VTA' from the abstract of the first article to come up. Plus, what the hell, SWEETS? That was lazy writing.
BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WAS WONDEFUL. There was crimesolving and awesome friendships (CAM) and Angela's kickass dress and jskhdkjh stabbing and holding and OH BOOOOOTH, I HEARD YOU CALL HER 'BABY' AFTER YOU KISSED HER HAIR, UH HUH. They are so in love and their hugging was amazing and whatever, ridiculously contrived attempt to stop Booth from confessing his feelings, at this point it's all so inevitable that I am actually quite enjoying the delicious emotional obstacle course and all of its accompanying LONGING LOOKS and TOUCHING and yes.
In conclusion, everyone on this show needs to have a good long talk with Angela. She will whack Booth and remind him that no, he has been in love with Brennan for AGES, and she will explain to Sweets that he should maybe stop grasping at unscientific straws out of his poor confused puppy dog crush on Booth.
