sorting out thoughts

I think a larger upheaval than previously thought might be in order. For a long time I've wanted to start posting my fanfiction to fahye and then archiving it on a stand-alone website, and stop using mercurial_wit altogether (I don't like having the whole separate pseudonym). And then friendslock my non-fic entries, and friend anyone who wants to follow my journal for things other than fic.

Problems being:

1) Dreamwidth's access/subscription thing is better set up for this (I'd have to start using filters on LJ in order to read my flist) BUT I don't want to abandon LJ altogether because so many people aren't moving over at all, so:

2) it doesn't really solve the 'to what extent should I duplicate my content' problem at all.

3) I don't have an external website. Anything decent and reliable probably costs money.

4) Even if I DID have one, archiving my fic and formatting the site would take a lot of time and frantic HTML revision.

UGH this is too messy a problem for me to deal with right now. I should be studying. If you have any suggestions or magic solutions or things that I have overlooked because I am silly, let me know.

PS: my DW may be empty, but its icons are making me extremely happy.

Hi, I came across this surfing friendsfriends...Wordpress allows for importing Livejournal entires without much fuss, and you can set up a blog on wordpress.com. Your URL will be yourname.wordpress.com, but it's an option, and I'm fairly certain you can do the import on a hosted site there (I use it for my own sites on a privately hosted server.)

Thanks, but what I want isn't a new fic BLOG, but an archival website with everything arranged by fandom and neatly linked :)

You can do that with Wordpress, though: you can use categories and tags, and post everything by pages if you want instead of posts. It's quite versatile.

if you want your own subdomain at angstnromance.net, i'm happy to give you space, etc. you can run whatever type of personal archive you like (mysql, etc), email address, etc. if you're interested, just give me your list of demands. :)
