fahye: ([narnia] when I ruled the world)

So is anyone else having a serious fling with the latest Coldplay album? I was so surprised! I haven't really liked any other Coldplay songs (except 'Clocks'). But this is a great album. And this is a great song that makes me want to write about Pevensies:

I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sweep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing:
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"

One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand

I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
Once you go there was never, never an honest word
That was when I ruled the world

It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in.
Shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become

Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
Just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?

I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing
Roman Cavalry choirs are singing
Be my mirror my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
But that was when I ruled the world

Remind me to pinch that off you sometime... I loves me some musical medievalism...

Haha. Ha. Medievalism is probably pushing it :D But it's a great song and the lyrics are SO Prince Caspian-y. If I had vidding software, I'd be tempted; I'm already matching scenes to lines in my head.

hey, there's crusaders in it. that's medievalism for me ;)

Those lyrics are amazing.

I will to bitTorrent tomorrow, when I am awake.

...Ooooh.

I haven't heard this song, or any of the album, but I can definitely see the Pevensie connection in those lyrics.

WHOA. That is a Pevensie song... I haven't gotten the new one yet, but I tend to adore Coldplay. I am very excited about you writing Pevensie fic

Oh hey, did you get an e-mail from me re: Milliways podcast project? I sent it to fahye at livejournal dot com, as I couldn't locate another one. Let me know.

I KNOW. And my Pevensie fic is on hold at the moment, but it'll be done eventually :)

I did! I am...getting to it! PROMISE.
