uh
I think I might have poisoned myself with balsamic vinegar. WTF.

God, god, GOD I hate my costume right now. But it's as done as it's going to be -- the endlessly tolerant
_leareth just has to do a couple of rows of sewing on the velcro and then it will be COMPLETE AND ENTIRE. The back's a bit uneven but it will look lovely in photos and that is all I care about at this point, frankly.
There was also an exciting experiment with body paint in which I learned that when one is white as the driven snow, striking out in the direction of dark dark dark brown is NOT A VERY GOOD IDEA. The paint was excellent quality, but I think I would have to be at least a pale olive for it to not look very, very strange and uneven and hideous.
Oh well. I shall be a pale Esmeralda. I am not so invested in this cosplay that I will endure a day's worth of looking like the loser of a mudfight and worrying about whether the double-sided tape is refusing to stick to my painted skin or whether the brown smudges on my white blouse are visible.
---
My self-inflicted vinegar poisoning is making me want to curl up in bed and watch Rome with a big mug of jasmine tea, but I have anatomy study to do and lecture notes to type up and ugh, ugh, ugh. I really need a holiday. June is going to be a long, long month.

I picked this up for $20, in purple:

It is even cooler than you think it is. The back of it has LACINGS.

ALSO I HAVE JUST DISCOVERED THE REASON THERE IS NO ESMERALDA AT DISNEYLAND: MEN FOUND HER TOO "APPEALING"*.
Ahahhahahahahahahahahahaha! Going to be gettin' your sexy on at Supanova, Fahye-Fahye?
*This is also true of Tarzan. Except mainly with women.

*sends love for your cosplay stress*
My cosplay caused me some intense stress - too the point that I almost refused to go and my friend had to threaten me! But on the day it went sooo well, and I'm sure it will be the same for you.
Can you consider a couple of coats of spray tan, maybe?
Will we get pictures?

(I am trying to lose an eensy bit of weight so that the corset doesn't KILL ME on the day -- it's not the sucking-in I mind, but because of the bulk of the skirts it puts my back at a slightly different angle to usual.)
But I have reference pictures of an Esmeralda from one of the theme parks! Maybe she quit because she was sick of being hit on.

Oh, and: no to the spray tan. I am not meant to have dark skin: I HATE the idea of getting a fake tan that would last more than a day.
Yeah, I expect there will be lots.
