Soundtrack My Life! (a meme)

Inspired by [livejournal.com profile] villainny, made up by [livejournal.com profile] schiarire, hosted here.

If you were soundtracking my life, what kind of musical accompaniment would you suggest?

To request a soundtrack: comment below with your name, under the appropriate heading, and then link to your comment in your LJ so that your friends can come and suggest things. (Please PUT YOUR LJ NAME AS THE SUBJECT OF YOUR COMMENT, for ease of browsing the meme.)

To suggest songs: find people you know and give them your suggestions! Links to uploaded tracks are welcome but not compulsory.

Feel free to be as structured as you please: suggest the credits song, the Epic Love Story song, or the song for that uplifting moment at the film's emotional climax. Or just throw in anything that you think suits that person's life.

PIMP FAR, PIMP WIDE.

Hmmmmmmm.

Patty Medina -- Still Life
The Killers -- Romeo & Juliet (Dire Straits cover)

And I will never, EVER stop associating 'The Legionnaire's Lament' with you, so that'll have to go in as well.

I don't have the Patty Medina song! What's it like? However, I am freaking thrilled that you associate the Killers' R&J with me. Because. Awesome.

Yeah, I'm saddled with that one. Which is fine by me. My camel is in disrepair >65% of the time...

It's really awesome, it's from one of the BtVS soundtracks. It's the kind of song that would go over a waking-up-to-sunshine scene, with wacky pyjamas and dropping toast crumbs in the spine of a book.

Here you go! (http://www.mediafire.com/?jb254ohcpf1)

Iron & Wine- Wolves (Song of the Shepherd's Dog), perhaps for one of those arty montages where you're walking and the camera angles are crazy and there's city all around and behind you... and then I think the New Pornographers- Failsafe for hand-jivin' exit music and when I say "exit music" I don't mean "shuffle off this mortal coil exit music" just the kind of music that comes up when the house lights go on and you've got to wait another year or two for the next installment.

Commissioning a Symphony in C- Cake (Partly because I know you like Cake, and partly because I feel like this is some kind of music joke that you would understand.)
I'm Gonna Be- The Proclaimers

And then some commentary by David Tennant and Stevan Moffat and Noel Clarke, just for your personal amusement. (God, I want them to narrate my life for me.)

OH MAN HELL YES. I just used that for someone else and then got all protective of it. XD

Yes. Yes. Can you -- yes. I would not even mind Noel Clarke turning off my slash goggles for me, that is how much I am in love with his talking.

You are not posting this for yourself for some CRAZY REASON so here have yours here:

In class: My Baby Loves A Bunch Of Authors (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9F_XHb81N0), Moxy Früvous
You in Berkeley (shot with a hand camera): Walking My Gargoyle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1N18s4YbAYQ), the Gothic Archies
Over the shots of you, the artiste: Ta Doleur (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgXUctWDF34), Camille

There would also have to be something off Carlos' album; maybe that track we had to dance to.

d00d you so totally need "Roy's Toy" by Jeff Beck as the car chase song.

And I cannot decide between "Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt" by We Are Scientists or "Letter To A Young Rose" by Andreas Vollenweider for your Study Music. It's a tough one. So you get both. Obvs for different classes.

The music video for "Nobody Move" is causing parts of my brain to asphyxiate with joy. They are being chased ... by a bear. Through the streets. But I cannot find "Letter" on the internets! I will have to take your word for that one...

1. You move to New York, hoping to turn the experience of living your life into the experience of listening to "Myriad Harbour": The New Pornographers: Myriad Harbour (http://www.box.net/shared/cjgx81l6o8)
2. And it rocks: Cub: New York City (http://www.box.net/shared/47ariea8co)
3. Until a bizarre, horrifying incident in the Tallahassee hotel, after which you are afraid to sleep alone: The Mountain Goats: Oceanographer's Choice (http://www.box.net/shared/rz6v7ypfog)
4. So you hook up with someone so normal they've never heard of Daniel Johnston, even though he is not only the towering musical figure that he is, but also the subject of a relatively successful independent biopic, and you feel pretty good about this, because not only will it protect you from John Darnielle but it means you aren't a horrible snob: Herman Düne: You Stepped on Sticky Fingers (http://www.box.net/shared/feiey71q8s)
5. But you are a horrible snob: Radiohead: Wonderwall (Oasis cover) (http://www.box.net/shared/awau26nggw)
6. And the resulting horrible breakup catapults you into a full-scale relapse into alcoholism and music that involves violins: Final Fantasy: Took You Two Years to Win My Heart (http://www.box.net/shared/93fqr26m80)
7. While John Darnielle's disembodied voice does its best to persuade you this is a valid lifestyle choice and you should not ever leave your studio apartment again: The Mountain Goats: In the Craters on the Moon (http://www.box.net/shared/jxsib08008)
8. Until you manage to drag yourself to one more concert, just one more, and fall in love with a beautiful singer-songwriter who is definitely out of your league: Cat Power: Free (http://www.box.net/shared/5vpcdwa8sk)
9. Nevertheless, you make a gender-confused attempt at seduction, which fails: Of Montreal: Tim I Wish You Were Born a Girl (http://www.box.net/shared/l5t417e4n1)
10. Though you have regained the will to live (and to listen to upbeat music), you nevertheless feel alienated in New York: The Essex Green: Penny & Jack (http://www.box.net/shared/gg8k91ugwc)
11. So you write one last open letter: Velvet Underground: After Hours (http://www.box.net/shared/j3g4q54g88)
12. And go home to California, lonelier but wiser. In the airport you begin to remember where your real friends have always been, and are happy: Coconut Records: West Coast (http://www.box.net/shared/jgol2pgqok)

Man, if this is the soundtrack to my life, I would even be thrilled by the Tallahassee hotel. The state approves, in both awe and enthusiasm!

The real question is, how come no one's written a Myriad Harbour for San Francisco or possibly Chicago yet?

P. S. How is this so perfect?

Disclaimer: logic behind these choices not in any way guaranteed.

Nicotine Queen (http://www.sendspace.com/file/25x5yt) -- Dick Annegarn

Right Moves (http://www.sendspace.com/file/uy5eyo) -- Josh Ritter (parts of this sound like Paul Simon to me. I think I'm crazy)

You Don't Make It Easy Babe (http://www.sendspace.com/file/h1si5y) -- Josh Ritter

California (http://www.sendspace.com/file/pvxx42) -- Josh Ritter

The Problem With April (http://www.sendspace.com/file/t2gd5z) -- Of Montreal

The Lottery (http://www.sendspace.com/file/fbs8i6) -- Emily Haines

Detective Daughter (http://www.sendspace.com/file/lqvjux) -- Emily Haines

And I feel so horrible sending this but to my sick sense of humor, this isn't a bad credits song! *SHOT*

It's Easy to Sleep When You're Dead (http://www.sendspace.com/file/r8m1zz) -- Of Montreal

... I think this has now lost any recognizable relation to you whatsoever. I SUCK SO HARD.

I was going to recommmend the Dire Straights original, but now I am songless...

Eto: I'll get back to you when I can think of something that is not a song there because of Aria.

"Postcard to Nina"
"Piazza, New York Catcher" (for all your wandering adventures)
"California" by Joni Mitchell (for when you come back home after aforementioned adventures)
"Bandit Queen" (were you to become a pirate)
and
"Mandelbrot Set" (because you're totally as awesome as that bad-ass fractal, and this song always reminds me of you)

!! I think you're the first person to put something on here (Piazza. Why was that song in Juno?) that is actually on my own mental soundtrack for my life. *checks* Oh how terrifyingly well you know me.
