I saw a comment in someone's journal to the tune that they're glad the episode-kiss was awkward and adorable rather than extended-with-tongue, because otherwise the "I love...my gift" at the end wouldn't have had the same impact.

Oh man. It's just this hilarious contrast between Brennan, who is all business-like, and ED -- who is an ACTOR -- being all 'uh, guys, wait up. I need to giggle some more. omg. sorry.'
