beautiful music

Sometimes I stumble across a piece of music that hits all of the aural aesthetic buttons I have. So I've put some of these pieces together in order to force you all to listen to them as well! Some of these tracks I've uploaded before, some I haven't. Yes, there's a lot of Libera, but that was kind of unavoidable.

For the record: the first track, to my mind, is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed. I used to sing it in my high school chapel choir.

1) John Rutter - For the Beauty of the Earth
2) George Winston - Carol of the Bells (piano instrumental)
3) Sara Macliver - Perfect Day
4) Karl Jenkins - Adiemus
5) Josh Groban - Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring
6) Libera - Abide With Me
7) Alison Moyet - Windmills Of Your Mind
8) Joyeux Noël OST - I'm Dreaming Of Home
9) Annie Lennox - Into The West
10) Libera - Sanctus
11) Charlotte Church - All Love Can Be
12) Tommy Emmanuel & Australian Philharmonic Orchestra - Concierto de Aranjuez
13) Vienna Teng - Drought
14) Libera - I Vow To Thee My Country
15) Amici Forever - Whisper of Angels

I think every high school chapel choir must have sang that song. (As well as "Pie Jesu".) :) It is lovely.

Joseph Arthur, You've Been Loved

It kept me sane at a very dark time in my life.

I adore Joseph Arthur! Do you have it in a shareable form?

This is beautiful - and most of these I haven't heard of before... thank you!!

... my list? Today is:

The Blood of Cu Chulainn - Jeff Danna
Appalachian Springs - Aaron Copland
Lisa Gerrard's Gladiator theme
Annie Lennox's Medusa covers from 1995
Giorgio Moroder (soundtracks of Top Gun, Electric Dreams, random 1980's electronica)
Yoko Kanno: Jupiter Jazz, and Blue, and a couple I've forgotten
Kate St. John
Dream Academy

Tomorrow will be totally different, naturally :) Sorry I don't have mp3s at the moment. It's bothering me a lot...

BTW, I've never heard a recording of Appalachian Springs that did it justice but in March NSO visited and Emil de Cou conducted a performance downtown that left me weak in the knees and smiling for *days*.

Some songs you just have to go to the theater for.

I started thinking of one or two, then it kind of got more and more, so I ended up making a post!

Thanks for the zip file - I've downloaded it, as there are a few pieces there I'm not familiar with.

Muuuuuuuuuusics! *downloads happily*

Right now I am in music-love with Thea Gilmore. She snuck her way into the musical portions of my heart and settled in before I realized.
