one-sentence fics: 1/2

Remember that time I went totally insane and told you to bury me in one-sentence fic prompts? I am writing every single one of them, but the Semagic draft is getting very very cluttered and so I'm going to unload the ones I've already done. Please note that all of the Doctor Who ones were written long before 'Utopia' was aired, so they're quite out of date.

(Apropos of nothing whatsoever, I am always ridiculously pleased by the way the background of this icon looks like a painting by Turner. You know? Turner? Okay.)

Arthurian - Arthur/Morgan - for [livejournal.com profile] tahira_saki

Arthur will manage to avoid recalling that night right up until Mordred calls him a narcissist; then he will remember with an abrupt start the sensation of looking into eyes the exact shade of his own.

Avatar - Sokka/Ty Lee - for [livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme

Sokka blinks at the girl's smug grin in something approaching awe and wonders what else he can bet her she couldn't put her foot behind.

Avatar - Sokka/the ladiez & Toph/pwnery - for [livejournal.com profile] loki013

As Toph walks away, muttering very insulting things about boys who couldn't deliver a compliment to save their lives, Sokka wonders woefully why his totally awesome poetry skills have to curl up and die in the face of her calm blank gaze.

(For her part, Toph is grudgingly impressed that he managed find something to rhyme with 'granite'.)

Battlestar Galactica - Kara/Lee - for [livejournal.com profile] jadengreen36

Kara finds something very elegant in the way that Lee loses things, be they triad games, pyramid matches or races through a simulator; it makes her want to push him further, see how outrageously she can cheat, see what kind of things he really cares about losing.

Battlestar Galactica - Kara/Lee - for [livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme

Every single girl who is invited for dinner at their place turns Lee into a parody of himself, a respectful military brat who listens to his father's stories, refills her glass of water without having to be asked, and secretly misses girls who grind their stogies out underneath the table and goad him into ridiculous dares.

Battlestar Galactica - Kara/Lee - for [livejournal.com profile] nuit_belle

The pilots of Galactica are unanimously agreed that watching any conversation between Starbuck and Apollo is grand entertainment, but they deplore the layers of meaning - in raised eyebrows, in sentences that don't need to be finished - that they as an audience are missing out on.

Battlestar Galactica - Kara/Lee - for [livejournal.com profile] jadengreen36

"Lee," she says quietly, her knuckles rapping commandingly on the back of his hand, and he wonders how it is that someone he's known for years can keep on inspiring new emotions with such ease.

Battlestar Galactica - Kara/Lee - for [livejournal.com profile] loki013

Earth's version of Delphi is a mess of stones and a breathtaking sense of age, and Kara stares at the tourist map for a while before grinning and dragging him up into something that turns out to be the ruined Temple of Apollo.

Battlestar Galactica - Kara/Lee - for [livejournal.com profile] lilyfarfalla

When his wings hit his father's desk with a clink of finality, Lee has to fight down the strong urge to explain himself; not to the Admiral, but to a Captain who isn't in the room or the ship or the universe or anywhere but his head.

Battlestar Galactica - Kara/Anders - for [livejournal.com profile] pirateygoodness

Sam hears of his wife's return and the hollow agony gives way to the knowledge that there is one model left, just one, and she has died and come back and maybe he won't have to give her up after all.

Battlestar Galactica - Adama/Roslin - for [livejournal.com profile] agonistes

The first day of their second month on Earth, she is awakened by his voice on her answering machine, teasing her out of bed; she laughs and is about to throw back the covers when his voice continues past the daily greeting, slow and awkward, saying I thought we could go looking for a cabin, today.

Battlestar Galactica - Six/Leoben - for [livejournal.com profile] fryadvocate

Leoben searches out dichotomies as one of the more intriguing types of patterns, and he is constantly awed by the way Six - whose beauty is so undeniable and so implausible - is the least secure of all of them where her identity is concerned.

Battlestar Galactica/The West Wing - Roslin/CJ Cregg - for [livejournal.com profile] loki013

"Goldfish?" the woman says, not looking up from her papers, and Laura Roslin wavers for a moment between diplomacy and disgust (they eat them?) before the box of crackers is waved under her nose and she almost laughs in relief.

Buffalo Soldiers - Ray Elwood/Robyn - for [livejournal.com profile] tahira_saki

He loves Hawaii for the shops full of tinted sunglasses, kisses on the beach next to a roaring bonfire, and the way Robyn refuses to let all of the strange looks directed at her scar deter her from wearing a bikini.

Battlestar Galactica RPF - Katee/Jamie - for [livejournal.com profile] mylittlepwny

"Nice...just nice," Jamie says, grinning at her, and Katee does a little twirl and privately resolves to thank Tricia for talking her out of those gold strappy sandals and into these boots.

Buffy - Buffy/Faith - [livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme

The night before Dawn gets married, Faith catches the wild insecurity in Buffy's eyes and drags her to a bar where, after three tequila shots in quick succession, the blonde Slayer has moved past both the urge to terrorise the groom-to-be and angst over her own unwed status, and is very amenable to the distraction of Faith's hand in her back pocket, Faith's mouth whispering secrets against her own.

Buffy - Buffy/Giles - [livejournal.com profile] carrielh

The day she gets to teach Giles how to send text messages becomes the bright point of Buffy's entire month.

Buffy - Angel/Spike - for [livejournal.com profile] not_in_denial

"Women," Spike says heavily (though they both knew that he means Buffy), lifting his boots onto Angel's highly-polished coffee table and jabbing his spoon moodily into the communal icecream bucket.

Doctor Who - Rose/Mickey - for [livejournal.com profile] carrielh

Rose has no idea what to expect first-date-wise from someone like Mickey Smith - they practically grew up together, they know all the same places, how original can he really be? - but he surprises her by dragging her apologetically out of bed at a really stupid hour of the morning and taking her down to the Covent Garden markets to watch the shipments of fresh flowers and vegetables being laid out.

Doctor Who - Nine/Rose - for [livejournal.com profile] loki013

It turns out that the Doctor knows more than one type of dance, but Rose can't quite bring herself to be enthusiastic about the belly-slapping waltz-cum-tapdance he shows her, even if does (as he hastens to assure her) lose a certain something when performed by a being with less than five arms.

Doctor Who - Doctor/Rose - for [livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme

After being assured that any civil unions taking place outside of the Milky Way have no legal standing upon Earth (according to some subheading of some edict that the Doctor takes great pleasure in reading aloud from a giant, leather-bound book), Rose is more than happy to visit Hee'ex IV; the mandatory marriage ceremony is a small price to pay for the really fantastic shopping.

Doctor Who - Ten/Martha - for [livejournal.com profile] nextian

Martha has never been satisfied with simply knowing about the existence of the Doctor's second heart: she longs to inject him with dyes, slow his perpetual motion for long enough to put him under a scanner, explore the functional anatomy of his commanding energy and put names to the muscles that create his smile.

Doctor Who - Jack/Martha - for [livejournal.com profile] liminalliz

It occurs to Martha that she should be even more jealous of that hungry spark in the Doctor's eye when it is directed at a living human and not a fond memory, but God damn this Harkness fellow is so hot that she's having trouble moving past the fit of lust on her way to the planned sulking fit.

Doctor Who - Jack/Doctor - for [livejournal.com profile] liminalliz

Martha admits to having a shameless fondness for reality television, and when she catches the expression of tight guilt on his face he lets her assume that it has something to do with Rose because it's easier than telling her about someone else who threw themselves away for his sake.

Doctor Who - Jack/Doctor - for [livejournal.com profile] genarti

Jack cannot enjoy his memories of the Doctor for the taint that has been left on them; curiosity has given way to the frustration that it was never satisfied, and his stubborn love is dark with abandonment.

Doctor Who - Jack/Doctor/Rose - for [livejournal.com profile] nuit_belle

It's easy enough to avoid talking about Jack until just-another-crazy-adventure turns into a tense game of hide-and-seek with a handful of Time Agents, and then they allow themselves five minutes of painful reminiscing, sentences heavy with regret, only letting the memories escape because it's too dark in their hiding place for them to be able to meet each other's eyes.

Doctor Who/Avatar - Nine-Aang - for [livejournal.com profile] loki013

The Doctor only gets halfway through his normal Lonely God spiel before he catches a look in the boy's eye that says - shockingly, and shamingly - grow up.

Doctor Who/Firefly - Nine-River - for [livejournal.com profile] loki013

There are no settings of the sonic screwdriver that can fix what has been done to the girl's mind, but the Doctor frowns in concentration and pretends to keep trying because it's easier than dealing with the distant, knowing sympathy she directs at him every time he pauses to look at her.

Doctor Who/Pirates of the Caribbean - Doctor/TARDIS & Will/Flying Dutchman - for [livejournal.com profile] liminalliz (ummmm)

He had always thought that there wasn't a lot to beat it travels in time, but this tanned boy (something familiar about him - something to do with loss) stands with his hands caressing the wheel (and that's familiar too) and talks about travelling between life and death, and the Doctor aches with envy.

Firefly - Mal/Inara - for [livejournal.com profile] carrielh

Inara quickly learns to associate each type of incense stick with the face Mal makes when he enters her shuttle, and then learns to exploit that knowledge: sandalwood when asking him a favour, musk if she wants her privacy, and jasmine for the unsteadiness of his breath and the millisecond of bare desire that enters his eyes.

Grey's Anatomy - Izzie/Meredith - for [livejournal.com profile] pirateygoodness

Izzie's coping mechanism is to bake and Meredith's is to drink too much, so after an extensive argument they combine forces and show up at Cristina's door with a chocolate cake soaked in rum, an Alanis Morissette CD, and matching smears of icing on their lips that make Cristina roll her eyes.

Hard Core Logo - Joe/Billy - for [livejournal.com profile] brynnmck

Billy finds himself singing under his breath during Joe's shit-poor excuse for a funeral, some weird hybrid of a HCL song and a new set of riffs that's been running through his head, and he feels kinda bad about it until he decides that it's exactly what the asshole would have wanted.

Howl's Moving Castle - Howl/Sophie - for [livejournal.com profile] bookelfe

"You have to save me," Howl mutters, hiding behind Sophie as his sister bears down upon them with an expression of doting baby-enthusiasm; Sophie rolls her eyes, adjusts the blankets around Morgan's face, and kicks her husband discreetly in the ankle.

Larklight - Jack Havock/Myrtle Mumby - for [livejournal.com profile] bookelfe

Art is horrified upon discovering the soppiness of the lengthy entries in his sister's diary detailing the virtues and attractions of Captain Jack Havock, but that horror pales in comparison with the day when he unearths one of Jack's letters to her.

Larklight - Jack Havock/Myrtle Mumby - for [livejournal.com profile] memlu (x3!)

The entirety of Larklight is a mess of planning and flowers and seating arrangements for far too many months, and Jack grows very grateful for his future brother-in-law's knack of steering them both away through the house's nooks and crannies bare minutes before a rash of wedding talk breaks out.
~
Later, Myrtle will be able to reel off expertly the number of things that went wrong during the wedding - beginning with the way Ssilissa's bridesmaid dress sustained several rips from the enthusiastic lashing of her tail, and ending with the bizarre scientific tangent that her father wandered down during his toast at the reception - but Jack won't be able to remember anything beyond the way she looked when she appeared at the other end of the aisle.
~
Jack has only managed to undo a third of the baffling amount of hooks and ribbons that comprise his new wife's wedding dress when Art's voice bawls something about spiders! and come quick!, accompanied by some frantic thumping on the door of the room, and Jack wonders exactly what he did to the universe to deserve this.

Milliways - Moriel/Lucifer - for [livejournal.com profile] unravels

Lucifer recognises one of his own failings in the forcible urge he has to fight Moriel's battles for him - watching him argue vividly with Michael, for at this stage the dissent is no more than vocal - and another in the fact that it is, inevitably, his battle that is being fought.

Milliways - Fleur/anyone - for [livejournal.com profile] wickedtrue

Fleur enjoys flirting with Nymphadora in public largely on account of the split second of confused lust that appears in Bernard's eyes before he scowls at her.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Barbossa/Elizabeth - for [livejournal.com profile] copinggoggles

Barbossa is one of the best weapons in Elizabeth's arsenal, and she soon perfects the exact mixture of flirtation and bribery required for him to sarcastically shout down any of the Brethren who question her authority.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Will/Elizabeth - for [livejournal.com profile] liminalliz

Every time Elizabeth drew a sword or harshened her voice, she felt herself grow futher away from the girl that Will Turner fell in love with; she wonders sometimes if she wasn't testing the bounds of his acceptance, giving him excuses to leave, because she was just a little scared by the magnitude of what she saw when he looked at her.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Jack/Will/Elizabeth - for [livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme

Jack puts on a show of great affront upon hearing that he missed their wedding, and insists - drinks all round! - on kissing first the bride and then the groom with rum-soaked enthusiasm.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Captain Jack/Captain Jack - for [livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme (LOOK, SHE WAS AMBIGUOUS, SO, UH...NOPE, NO GOOD EXCUSES FOR THIS)

After a day (or maybe a week) in the Locker, Jack was unnerved by the way two of him - the two he'd privately dubbed Shirtless One and Mumbling One - kept groping each other; he thought it was the most disturbing thing he'd ever seen until he discovered just what Furtive One was getting up to with that goat.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Barbossa/Pearl - for [livejournal.com profile] copinggoggles

It takes the better part of ten days for Barbossa to sow enough uncertainty that a mutiny is possible, only an hour to cast anchor while Jack is ashore, and all of three seconds to reaccustom himself to the texture of the Pearl's wheel.

The Phantom of the Opera - Carlotta/Piangi - for [livejournal.com profile] genarti

Carlotta is nowhere near as blind to the falseness of the flattery that surrounds her as everyone thinks she is, and she adores Piangi for the way he bows and praises her and means every single word.

Slings & Arrows - Geoffrey Tennant/Darren Nichols - for [livejournal.com profile] nextian

Darren visits the Theatre Sans Argent fully girded against the dull plebeian dust of the place, but after three days of exposure to the joyful enthusiasm of the actors, the cobbled-together sets that remind him of college, and Geoffrey's sparkling eyes, he finds his contempt sorely weakened.

The Tempest - Ferdinand/Miranda - for [livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme

It takes almost six months for Ferdinand to stop holding his breath whenever his wife is introduced to another man, and another six before he can quite banish the fear that one day she will regret marrying the first man she ever saw.

Torchwood - Captain Jack/Captain Jack - for [livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme (the sane canonical version of this prompt)

It's not the first time Jack has kissed someone and taken their name, but it is the only time he's ever done it in reverse order.

Veronica Mars - Veronica/Logan - for [livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme

"You know," Logan murmurs against her neck, "most girls are thrilled that their daddies would disapprove of me," and Veronica idly begins to formulate a cunning plan that involves both humiliating her not-boyfriend and getting sex from him.

Veronica Mars - Lilly/Duncan - for [livejournal.com profile] crazylittleme

The three extenuating circumstances surrounding the kiss are a) large amounts of alcohol, b) they're in Vegas, and c) both Kane siblings get equal amounts of vindictive glee from the expressions on their parents' faces.
