female civilian leaders FTW

Pausing the SG:A season one finale to mention that I have isolated another of my fictional kinks that this show keeps whacking squarely on the head: absolute loyalty. Loyalty to a person even in the presence of what should be a higher authority. Defying orders because of unshakeable trust. Military sci-fi is great for this - BSG did it a lot at the beginning of S2, during the martial law scenario.

The upshot of this is, uh, I think people should write me lots of Sheppard-Weir right now. It's just like Apollo-Roslin! Except with the bonus feeling that any second they might start outmaking against walls!

YAY YOU'RE A SHEPPARD/WEIR-er!

WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS MY GLEE AT THIS NEWS!

Maybe my muse shall return to write you fic!

Actually I am kind of confused by my own shippyness as regards this show. I LOVE the family vibe between the main players, and I love the idea that at times of great stress the UST that hovers around this family vibe would kind of...snap. I think Sheppard/Weir would be great and I think Sheppard/Teyla would be hot but probably kind of disastrous if it ever got too deep. I think their siblings-with-inappropriate-thoughts, whacking-each-other-symbolically-with-sticks thing works just fine.

I find McShep HILARIOUS and love that there's a mountain of good fic for it, but I consider it kind of a whole separate fanon. I like their snarky, wordless-trust relationship a lot without necessarily adding another layer.

Basically I love John Sheppard into teensy tiny pieces, no matter his crazy issues, and would happily throw him at just about anyone because OH MAN is that guy repressed.

Oh much definately. Shep has a LOT of issues that just makes him utterly awesome to ship - and I can admit to reading some McShep on very rare occasions. However, I do much prefer the deepness of his friend dynamic with McKay - and everyone else. The 'main team' of SGA seems almost closer than SG1 ever were, oddly enough - maybe just in a different way. Hmm.

Sheppard/Weir just hits all of my ForbiddenOTP-kink buttons, whereas Sheppard/Teyla..just don't see the chemistry (I much prefer her with Ronon. And then they done sex).

In conclusion,
a) SHWEIR (of which there are a crapload of awesome fic writers of omgness)
b) I find it impossible to watch a show without analysing to bits the intrapersonal relationships of everyone on the show. Alas. lol

I am yet to meet Ronon! This will be interesting. And yeah, I see occasional sparks of Sheppard/Teyla, but mostly their protectiveness and frustration with each other's perspectives are what make them interesting.

Got any Sheppard/Weir recs in particular?

*reads an earlier comment on this thread* RONON/TEYLA DEFINES SEX OMG. (except for the random part where Ronon lifts John up in the air in a bear hug and my shipping-o-meter just went of the charts, errr.) RONON!

ANYWAY! I AM SO PLEASED THAT YOU LIKE SPARKY YAY!!

Recs? Oh god. Anything by Ness, she's brilliant (and introduced me to Sheppard/Weir fic. And to BSG/Pilots, come to think of it). I'll look for more :D
