some open letters

Dear whoever is mowing the lawn directly outside my window:

Some of us are trying to study, you know? Some of us have 60% neuroscience exams on Saturday and would like to learn all this stuff about colour vision without feeling like there are pebbles rolling around inside our heads scraping away the knowledge as fast as we can get it to adhere.

BAD FORM.

Grumpily,

Fahye

Dear self:

Exam period is not a game of CAKE OR DEATH.

Dear flist:

I am finally back in the black on my personal disposable income budget, and if tonight's tutoring session is not cancelled then I will have a whole $50 to spend! What do I want to buy?

Yours in impending wealth,

Fahye

You are probably right! It sounds great! It's just...the last thing I need right now is more books to read, what with my bookshelf being all LOOK UPON ME AND DESPAIR.

How can you even suggest you have too many books to read!

...which is to say, I know that feeling entirely too well. I keep buying books I'll never have time to read (and then I do it again and again and--).

BUT STILL.

I am in the middle of three books and I think at least two of my double-stacked bookshelves are full of books that I am yet to read. There are NOT ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY.

You:
Exams are totally a game of cake or death and personally I think you should order the vegetarian.

(my exams are on things like poetry and film studies, so I can't possibly relate to the stress that accompanies actually having 'real' exams).

ps: buy lots of new (second-hand) books. Or something you don't really need like decadent lipsticks and tea.

You: are full of sense.

I buy at least one secondhand book every week anyway, but I do like the sound of tea. I might go and get myself a new baby teapot and some of the Arctic Fire herbal blend from the Tea Centre.
