BSG fic recs
As I am currently too sick to work (shitsoddingbuggerfuck) and too sick to write (much as I love you all), I have regressed to drinking tea and compiling recs.
I figure that I owe this to a certain portion of my friends list, as I have bullied them into joining the fandom.
This is by no means comprehensive, and I know I've read a heap of very good fics not listed here, but these are the ones that I remembered to put in my memories. By and large they are pilotcentric, and by and large they are cheerful or at least tentatively optimistic. I know of at least one fic that I loved but refused to memory because I didn't want to read it ever again unless I had an entirely bulletproof good mood. YES, CLAIRZA&PEN, I'M LOOKING AT YOU. But I figure that if you like something by an author, you can easily track down more fic by them.
Brynn (
brynnmck)
Laws of Gravity - We'll start off with my sole concession to depressing fic, because this is too good not to include. It rips my heart apart, but it might as well be canon.
Detour - This was one of the first fics I ever read in this fandom, and omg, there are no words. It's funny and hot and so entertaining and ACADEMY HIJINKS, which is a fic genre that needs to be written more often.
Ship To Ship - This is my favourite BSG fic. Favourite. Hands down. And there isn't even any romance or kissing or anything, just pilots being adorable and codependent and SNARKY, and I can read this againandagainandagain.
Carrie (
carrielh)
Nature of Love - Unshamedly sappy and adorable. I reread this whenever I need a short, sweet shot of pilotlove.
Winter Prayer - A lovely, quiet, intelligent look at what it may actually mean for the fleet to reach Earth.
Claira (
stars_like_dust)
Reaching Out For Human Faith - Drunkenpilots, and serious talks, and the best ending line of any fic ever written.
Burning Driftwood - Pilots. Hot. Crazy. Awesome. *waves hands* Just read it.
Until The Truth Comes Out - INFIDELICIOUSNESS. This is a genre unto itself. You will learn to love it.
Distance Enough - This captures the friendship angle so well that the romance kind of sneaks up on you and whacks you on the head with how inevitable and perfect it is. Mmm.
Daphnaea (
daphnaea)
Under The Shadow - Circularfic! Mmm. This is the story of lust slowly turning into something else. I have to read it with my blush reflex disengaged.
Ten Times Lee Adama Belongs To Her - Vigneeeeeettes. Oh. This is short but very effective.
Simulations - I can't quite explain why this is so perfect, but it is. Pre-canon, Zak and Kara and Lee.
Fahye
Oh, shut up, I'm only listing a couple, because these are my babies and I love them.
Human Limits - My '33' fic.
Infidelirium - My contribution to the INFIDELICIOUSNESS. It's kind of screwed up, but it was fun to play with characters that don't get written about much.
Imry (
loki13)
different in time (back to me again) - I love separate-ship fic. Love. And this is circular and honest and beautiful.
Indigo (
indigo419)
Elect - This has a really interesting premise and was handled very well. Romantic without being cheesy.
Ingrid (
ingrid_m)
Truth That Sticks - This is a fantastically dark, clever fic, and Ingrid gets mad props for making it plausibly piloty even though she is not a pilotshipper.
These Desert Places - Got a spare afternoon? Read this. It's BSG done in Arabian Nights romance novel style, and it's so much fun. You wouldn't believe the number of Aladdin jokes you can get out of the name Prince Ali al-Adama. Chapters twelve and thirteen are not yet linked on the archive.
(Here we interrupt the author-categorised thing to bring you fanfic of fanfic, otherwise known as Tris and Lizzen write DESERTPILOTS. So cool.)
Ji (
schiarire)
drabble - Ji has only just been forcibly introduced to this fandom, but she's already written something that captures the atmosphere perfectly.
Kate Andrews (
svilleficrecs)
Intra - I love this fic. Love. Love. It hits pretty much all of the things that made '33' such a powerful piece of TV for me.
Lizzen (
liminalliz)
No Regrets - This has been memoried as LIZ'S PILOTPORN OF JOY, and you should all read it and then tell Lizzen why she should write lots more fic. Guh.
Nia (
aeonian)
The Book of Ambition - Roslin/Cain, pre-show. No, really. No, really. It works, and it works incredibly well, and I love this Roslin.
Pen (
bantha_fodder)
The Pilot Bride - A BSG version of The Princess Bride, featuring Prince Apollo and the Dread Pirate Starbuck. Don't ask, just read.
That I Should Suffer - Guh. This hits my violence kink square on the head. Possibly my second-favourite fic ever.
a litany of love letters - I have a thing about lists and numbers. Like, really. And this manages to say a hell of a lot in a short space.
blood like holy wine (constant in the darkness) - INFIDELICIOUSNESS. Otherwise known as: the fic that made me like Dee.
Sangga (
sangga)
for whom it is reserved - More '33' fic. If you want me to love you forever, write fic about '33'. Yes. This makes me shivery with how perfect some of the lines are.
Voleuse (
moodfic)
Your Quaint Honour - Okay, go and track down anything this girl has ever written, but read this first. Eternity and making lists in one's head and showersex. Yay.
Widget (
widget285)
The Absolutely, Positively True (Sort Of) Fictional Adventures of Hot Pilots in Love - This is kind of crack and kind of not and TOTALLY AWESOME. It's about someone on Galactica writing bad fanfiction and it's very long but very funny and has lots of hot sexx0rs, so read it.
Wisteria (
wisteria_)
Early Drafts Of Surprise Endings - I love the McSweeney's structure of this. One day I will write something in the same style, as I have an utter weakness for tiny linked vignettes.
Time and Relative Dimensions - This is a crossover with Dr Who, which I don't even watch, and the idea behind it - what if? - is fantastic.
~
Plastix and other assorted BSG-ers, if you want to comment with any recs that you have, that would be fantabulous.

And, even though you have lots of Brynn listed, I thought I'd put in a plug for my favorite, Bottom of a Well (http://brynnmck.livejournal.com/23810.html). Because I miss the days when the pilots were still flying and having sublimated Viper!sex.

I DIDN'T. OMG. SORRY.
I have a horrible, horrible habit of forgetting to go back and leave reviews even when I have been fangirling someone shamelessly from afar, which I have certainly been doing in your case ever since Rawles prodded me to read your fic.
