I plan ahead

I feel as though I should update simply out of habit, although my life is a good many steps below thrilling at the moment. Or perhaps it just seems that way because last time I was updating I had just met Neil Gaiman.

Nevertheless!

No sooner do I wrangle my timetable so that I have Monday mornings and Friday afternoons free (being a great believer in the Long Weekend), my father shoves some forms under my nose and announces enthusiastically that if I come and work for him I can start earning superannuation through some kind of new government contribution scheme...heck, I don't know, but I'm getting a pile of money to put into my savings, which gives me hope for actually being able to afford this trip to Europe at the end of my Honours year, and I'm sure I'll be glad for it when I'm sixty. Yeah. The upshot being that now I'm doing data entry and scanning Xrays for those two half-days every week.

(On the subject of said trip: my mother is a little dubious about trying to fit America into a three-month holiday as well as Japan and Europe, unless I can somehow find a cheap round-the-world deal...and though this is a long way away I'm already thinking about dates because if I want to use my aunt's London flat I'll need to tell her a hell of a way in advance. But I do want to traipse around the States. So. Who wants a few twenty-two-year-olds camped out in their living room come December/January of 2008/9? Of course you do.)

Assessment this semester looks to be vraiment dégoûtant, my darlings, so don't be suprised when I disappear for weeks on end and then pop up again with half my hair torn out and my sanity spun for a loop by stress.

Ji: you may consider yourself an exception, hon. I will move heaven and earth to RP with you before fading back into the ether, so email me as soon as you find yourself home and clean and caught up on vital things like Milliways and less important things like sleep.

It's probably wrong of me to want Tom Stoppard and Tony Kushner to have babies, right?

Right.
