the iced donut of corruption

Raining today, looked outside and noticed that the rain was falling at a perfect 45 degree angle, immediately started dividing it into vector components of motion and the equation for maximum torque.

At the same time - rain speeding past in stark contrast to the immobile drops on the window, fierce sunlight through the clouds making every single silver path visible against the trees and the road.

There appears to be a constant war between the left and right sides of my brain.

Money in wallet has been replaced by Lucifer 4, which is exponential amounts better than the first three. Which is pretty bloody hard. (It has Death in it. And Elaine and Michael and oh lord it's so pretty...) Also Hellblazer 1, which is violent and overfond of graphic blood and guts, but awesome nonetheless because John Constantine is such a cool character.

What's really quite sad is that I am entirely too fond of the random new character on Friendly Hostility. She and Collin are exact polar opposites, and I find myself attracted to both of them.

Lookit her! She's so cute!

I think I want to be a psychiatrist.

Did I say any of it was going to make sense? No.

Know that being a psychiatrist will cause people to question your state of mind on a regular basis. ;)

Although I suspect such a career may pay better, I have to admit that most people I know would rather see a regular old psychologist than a psychiatrist...but, it depends on your motives, really. ^_^

Oh, I know. I had a long discussion with my parents (both doctors) on that very subject >.<

The kind of people who see psychiatrists are not the ones who are going by choice, I would imagine. You don't go to a psychiatrist to be told that you have repressed resentment against your parents. You go to be prescribed drugs and treatment for your mental disorders.

That's true, certainly the time I had to see a psychiatrist it wasn't by choice XD But because of that, you may get some resentment from the people you have to work with.

Anyway, I'll shut up O_o; I sound like I'm trying to talk you out of it, and I'm not, honestly. ^^;;

Believe me, I'm not interested in it because it looks like a cushy option. It really doesn't!

:D

[identity profile] not-in-denial.livejournal.com 2004-09-11 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
That's true, I didn't think you would be interested in it for that XD I don't know where my head's at, I suspect that the more hair I grow the stupider I get XDD;;

Bimbo Erin!

o_O No, that really doesn't fit.

.....thank you, I think I'm scarred for life imagining that.

Although apparently I do a magnificent valley girl impression.

Hi, I was just wandering around other Canberran's journals, and I bumped into yours. Do you mind if I friend you?

So I sound slightly less random: I just finished a B Psych, I love Buffy and Black Books, and your entries make me smile.
Less random, more stalkery

Aha! *latches onto kindred spirit*

B Psych at ANU? Did you enjoy it? What did you major in?

'Salright, I'm good at stalkery questions too. See?

[identity profile] drealle.livejournal.com 2004-09-12 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
I did enjoy it very much, though I don't think I even heard the word 'counselling' once in four years. I majored in abnormal psychology. It's fun to go through the text-book and go 'I have that and that and that...'. Then I ran away and did biology.

*grins* I'm planning to do biology, chemistry and psych, probably majoring in neuroscience and some form of psych. I'm insane and applying for the new PhB - have you heard about it? - but I may end up doing graduate medicine for psychiatry. Have to see what I enjoy doing.

[identity profile] drealle.livejournal.com 2004-09-12 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard about the PhB, but I haven't talked to anyone who is in it. Doing actual research from day one sounds useful, though. I can let you know who the good supervisors are, at least. Stay away from any of those foolish other degrees, Bachelor of Medical Science, Bachelor of Bioinformatics, etc. They're just a Bachelor of Science in sheep's clothing.

Happy Sunday!
